Hi guys i took delivery of my dual motor r1t in october in Costa Mesa and apparently was the first 3 dual motors to be delivered there, it had a bunch of suspension errors and i couldnt adjust height and lots of other problems so i returned it, my guide said if i wanted to order one they would try to find a matching config and get me first. Mightve been because it was one of the first so I need opinions of newly delivered dual motor owners, is it worth it to go through the purchasing process again or do i go back to gas?????

My dual motor has been great. Have owned it 2 months now. No problems at all. My main concern with the vehicle is the thin sheet metal. I've already accidentally dented it twice by just using my hand to close the tunnel doors. Worried that it's gonna collect a ton of dings over the years. But other than that, it's probably the best car I've ever owned.

Owned my dual motor max for a month and problem free, other than dearth of charging options here in Maine. Best vehicle I've ever owned--so far ?

I've had my Performance DM R1T for just over 1 month. 2 minor interior issues addressed by mobile tech within 2 weeks of delivery. Loving it so far.

I've had my dual motor R1T since late September and haven't had any issues that couldn't be solved by resetting the UI or truck. 5k miles so far and the truck has been great.

Had PDM R1S for a little over 3 months. Mechanically-speaking, the major issue we encountered was leaking from the hydraulic lines connected to the rear driver-side suspension.

Rivian had it for about 6 days -- they replaced the lines and we're back on the road again.

I keep my hands near the edges of the tunnel doors where it's stronger to avoid this. Also it doesn't take much force to close it. Close it slow and firm and you can hear/feel it lock into place.

I got my DM beginning of October. Accumulated a small laundry list of non-crucial issues. Nothing seemingly specific to DM. All issues have been fixed with a single service appointment.

  1. Day 2 of ownership, I was showing off the truck to family, locking and unlocking the car from my phone while people were in it. This seemed to confuse the truck, and the software became unresponsive. Soft reset didn't work, hard reset did. Never happened since.
  2. Right tailgate latch never worked. Tailgate still secured by left tailgate latch.
  3. Left tailgate latch semi-failed after 2 months. Tailgate would not latch closed with a push. Needed to hold it closed and press the button to re-latch. (This issue was the final straw for scheduling the service appointment)
  4. Trim above windshield not sealed properly. Causes a faint whistling sound above 65 mph, easily drowned out by music.
  5. After coming down from highest suspension, tire pressure gauge temporarily malfunctions for a couple hours.
  6. Passenger seat lumbar support spring pops when leaned against.
  7. Windshield washer motors were weak. Only trickled water on the bottom inch of the windshield.
  8. Horn sounded gargley, like it had water trapped inside. Blowing the horn for 30 seconds as recommended by rivian did not help.

Thanks. Wish I was told this at delivery. They insisted that I slam it. Big mistake.

I was an early dual R1T picking it up September 30 2023 - no issues at all, and love it! Done 5,000 miles so far.

1300 miles on my standard dual motor. No issues. Absolutely love it.

To mirror another poster about the thin sheet metal, I also found a nice dent on my truck the other day that I have no idea where it came from. Bummer.

My biggest criticism of our R1T to date is the paper thin bodywork - not being able to *lean* (I weigh 215Lbs) against the truck without 'popping' door panels is weird to me - could they really not have lived with the extra 20-30lbs to make the truck much much more solid feeling? Someone once described the R1t as a supercar that looks like a truck, which is horribly on point.

It's really hard to exaggerate how thin the truck's body is. I bought it to replace a Ram and have so far not done any truck things with it as I'm worried it's going to be permanently disfigured loading and unloading. Love the car, but man, the skin it's made of tissue paper. Will probably end up getting a beater to do truck stuff...ugh.

Yeah, close it lightly then push it shut with as little force as possible by the corners has been my go to and no issues. I use it pretty often.
