While looking at the Rivian web site i was reminded that, "Rivian Autonomy Platform+ features shown are included at no extra cost through late 2025." With ~60 days left in 2025, the deadline is fast approaching when Rivian has promised to announce its subscription costs for driver+ (Gen 1) and Autonomy + (Gen 2). As the owner of a Gen 1 and a Gen 2, I am already cringing at the thought of any additional subscription (beyond connect +) on these vehicles. I am curious what other folks are willing to live with.

For me, the Gen 1 value is $0 since D+ is nothing more than standard Subaru-level LKA and Radar Cruise and I would be beyond furious if Rivian tried to charge for it.
For Gen 2 it is also $0 because it is not much beyond Gen 1. If and when it gets decent autonomous capabilities, come back and we'll talk, but I am not a fan of subscriptions so its probably still zero.
For the R2, and assuming an EAP level of capability, Rivian needs to offer a one-time price option at time of purchase or it is probably a deal killer for me (I really hate subscriptions).

$0 for me as well. I'm Gen 1 but I wouldn't pay even if it were Gen 2 ADAS. I enjoy driving my truck.

I’m not willing to pay for “Dumb ways to die” at this level of technology.

No, I don’t even want connect+ subscription. The way Rivian deploys streaming media sucks. iPhone+Bluetooth is way better and free. YouTubeMusic, Qobuz, Podcast and Libby — most important media for me on the go and none are supported by Rivian.

Same. I bought the vehicle to drive it, not to be driven.

I'm getting to the point where I'm getting rid of all subscriptions, or damn close. I refuse to continue buying anything that requires a subscription to use and I definitely will aim to avoid vehicles requiring a subscription to use features in the future

$0 for my Gen 2 R1T Quad since it's included (along with Connect+) lifetime for free. I actually look forward to playing around with it. I'd like too see what it can do, but I have low expectations. I like driving and I'm fine with lane keeping , adaptive cruise., and lane change.

$0 for my 2 Gen 1 R1S Quads. I don't think they'll be hardware capable.

I was actually a beta tester for Waymo in Phoenix and used to use it semi-regularly until it got so expensive. While not perfect, Waymo is impressive. It's done well in areas I wasn't expecting - such as safe right turns on red; stopping for an EMS vehicle before I had a clue it was close; and navigating past a stuck car in front of it. I still use Waymo and will this weekend for a dinner out, but I don't see a great need for autonomous capability on my personal vehicle that I love to drive. For my needs, I'm generally content with existing ADAS capabilities.

I would pay $10 a month for it on my Gen2. Really depends on what is included in it. While I am not a fan of the FSD that Tesla offers the current system in the Rivian is working well for me, especially on long trips to Boston or Virginia that I have done. It make the drive much easier. Having said that I could also live without it if the cost was too high, it isn't a must have for me.

I'd consider paying for it once I can use it with a trailer, though I'd expect standard adaptive cruise would also work for free in that situation at that point, and that's all I'd want.

To clear things up, isn’t D+ in the Gen 1’s a standard feature at no extra cost for life? Rivian advertised it as such and I even found the materials on the website the last time I looked (I briefly checked again and didn’t find anything, but it’s probably still there somewhere). The paid version is specifically for the updated hardware that allows for Autonomy Platform+, correct?

Yes, because it is not good.

overall on Gen 2 if more than $20 month and not better than current buy comma ai. By far best system I’ve used as you still can drive. Tesla thinks it’s smarter than you.

I use ADAS almost every day. Like HBOmax, some subscriptions are worth it.
