I use to drive a 2020 Honda Pilot. Even with engine noise, this feel exceptionally loud.

Wondering if there is anything we can do to seal it better.
There are posters that have purchased black foam or rubber and put that in the triangle window which improved noise. Just wondering why rivian hasn’t corrected this yet. Also check in detail if the door gaps are perfect on both doors. You coil see about having the SC align the door.

It’s still too much. Coming from 2 teslas, I would lose 1 percent per week at most in those cars. Something is still just not right with the power draw when parked. Even in the winter parked at the airport, 1-2 percent PER WEEK.
I own a 2023 Tesla model Y also. And in comparison, you are correct. The full 10 days while I was away. The Tesla only drained 3%.

I can attest, my wife's Model 3 in the same garage lost 3% in 10 days while the R1T lost 11% in the same period if my memory serves me well.

Wind noise is the hardest thing to diagnose, unless you can pin point where it comes from. If you do a search on here , there are many things can be done to it. I have done sealing the roof, the triangle and it only improve a little bit. As far as vampire drain concern, service center won't do anything If it is more than 2%. I would try to observe if your vehicle is sleeping mode or not by pull down on the app to see the half moon icon without waking it up

I thought vampire drain was resolved with Gen 2’s?

Owned the vehicle for two months so far.
Is it normal to be draining about 2% per day in about 30 degree weather, while not driving or touching it at all? Was away for 10 days and came back to find it down 20%. This was on 2024.51 update. Just updated to 2025.6, hoping it improves this.

Also, seems to be a lot of wind noise while going at highways speeds. Is this normal?
I experienced wind noise at highway speeds coming from the passenger side window in my Gen 1 R1T.

After my wife complained about wind noise coming from her window whenever we travelled out of town together, we set an appointment at the SC to have it fixed.

But, before I dropped off the truck, I put a long piece of painter's blue tape all along the inside of the passenger window to help indicate where we could hear noise. At the service center, I pointed that out to the technician.

The repair took about an hour, and was done under warranty. The work order noted that they removed and replaced the front RH glass and run channel seal, then tested it, and they could not replicate the wind nose.

As for us...no more wind noise...and happy wife.

A lot of talk about efficiency and wanting to be green and then the truck burns up 2% of the battery every day just sitting there doing nothing. It's pretty crazy.

The problem is that this CAN be fixed. Tesla has it figured it out and Rivian likely knows how to do it as well, but it’s probably a cost issue with the 12volt battery they simply can’t find the margin for yet.

Anywhere from 1% to 2%/day it's considered 'normal'. If you're going to leave your car at home for an extended period, I would recommend enabling "Vehicle Shipping Mode" from the service menu which turns off a lot of functions to save battery.

I'm actually away from home now and I'm trying the shipping mode for the first time, and after two days, I can already see a vast improvement on battery drain being lower than 1%/day (I will have final numbers after averaging the results for the week as normally on Day1 it will drain slower than on the subsequent days).
I'll be curious to see if this helps and if the phantom drain improves over time. Coming from a Tesla it definitely did - anything running in the car, Sentry/Gear Guard, cabin overheat, and checking the app wake the car and would cause drain, but in the end it was usually < 1% /day - if the car is connected to wifi and getting updates that takes a bit too. Not sure why the low voltage battery would be draining so much and need recharging multiple times just being parked with nothing on. We can't all leave the vehicle plugged in all the time so it's important they get this drain as low as possible.

My guess is that the "idle state" of the computer and its functions consume more than the same state in the Teslas (my wife has a model 3 so I have a great comparison point since both cars are parked in the same garage right next to each other).

Definitely, shipping mode in the Rivian is acting pretty much comparable with the Tesla sleeping in my garage with Sentry and cabin protection disabled. After 96hrs I've lost 1.3% of battery in the Rivian (~1.7kWh) while my wife's Tesla lost 1.1kWh in the same period.

But I’m guessing shipping mode would turn off all alarms. So say if parked at airport for a few days, it won’t be the best.

Yes it does. In my case, if I know I'll be parked at the airport for more than 10 days, I would consider disabling the alarms and make sure it's parked in a well-lit area :)

But most of the times, the truck is parked in my garage when it's for longer terms.

Same here. I keep pulling the switch wanting to close window further.

This does not sound normal. I have no obvious wind noise in my gen 2. Sounds like you might have a seal that isn't seated correctly. It's not Mercedes quiet, but I would say it's one of the more quiet vehicles I've been in. Road noise - some. Less than gen 1, but not Mercedes. Wind noise, absolutely not. I've only ever taken notice of wind noise when I'm driving at highway speed in heavy wind conditions

That is my guess also. Rivian schedule mobile service to take a look for me. Unfortunately, appointment is a month out.

There is another thread somewhere on this forum that says the "full closed" position of the window is not a hard stop, but rather a programmed height set by software. They posted a photo sowing a small gap between the glass and the seal. The post says the height can be adjusted by the service center, via software. I'll find out next week when I take my car in for its first service visit. My car has loud wind noise coming from the right front passenger window.
