I was concerned about that when I got my tent, but in practice it's less than 5 minutes to fold it up and go. It would take me way longer to breakdown a ground tent, and I really don't want to leave my tent or anything else unattended at a campsite. Sleeping in the bed isn't an option for me because that's where all my camp gear is (fridge, kitchen, etc.).I’d probably just use my manual tonneau cover and a bivy sack, and sleep with the tailgate down and my head under the stars. You could just use a hooped bivy without the tonneau.

The downside for a bed tent and roof top tent is your truck isn’t drivable went the tent is set up. That is a hassle when on a multi-day trip and you want to explore something too far away to walk.
