Extremely disappointed at the short-sightedness by Rivian to make one of the more unique colors that was supposedly designed exclusively for this vehicle and is only available on the top (only available at launch) trim isn’t even an option.
Sharing for anyone else who was excited for their grape flavored R2.

Strange especially since they have confirmed that their new paint shop(s) do not need to run in batch mode any longer and can now change colors per vehicle without losing speed.

At least we are getting answers. Ford promised a Bronco with a white top, only to take 5 years to deliver. Fookrs, I wanted a red with a white top. All they had was red with that junk cardboard coated top. I guess cardboard recycling is important.

I'm guessing that there is a limited number (seven in this case) of colors that Rivian can offer at any given time. With Launch Green in the mix for the LE one of the other available colors had to be delayed until non-LE production begins. Borealis unfortunately was the one that didn't make the cut.

Yeah, now I have to convince myself and my wife that we like the catalina or launch green. We’ve had our heart set on Borealis since unveiling day.

How would Rivian know the popularity of each color without the configurator being available?

I've played this game as well. I really wanted Red Canyon. Ok, so no red canyon for some reason, so let me check out Catalina Cove with the white interior. White interior coming later? Ok, so I guess Forest Green since I liked that on my R1 and would look nice with the black interior. Ok, Forest Green is coming later. So now I convinced myself and my wife that launch green also makes sense with the black interior.
Can't wait for the next batch of disappointing news. If the launch green ends up being way more expensive than the other paint options, I might just give up on the R2 altogether.
