Not having Forest Green is even weirder - it's been a paint option for quite awhile. They'll sell every R2 they make at launch, regardless of color.

Wonder from a statistics point of view what percentage of sales are black/white/silver vs other.

So you're telling me the exterior and interior color I want, the only reason I was getting a Launch edition to begin with, aren't available right off the back... that's just cruel. Heck if Borealis wasn't only on performance, I'd go premium.

I'm not hearing that at all in the video. Seems like he is just pulling colors out of the air and initially missed a few. He states launch is performance with black interior and a few extra goodies.....
That’s my hope too 🤞

That's weird to me that Borealis won't be a launch color. It has been in production already on the R1s. I wonder if there is some behind the scenes technical reason for that. Even though it was always touted as a short term color option, two months always seemed to me way too short short of a time for it to have been available on the R1s.
It was explained by Rivian themselves to have always been a color that was intended for R2, which makes it even more confusing if true to me

From the pictures, Forest Green and LE Green look the same to me. Not a perfect match. Looks like LE Green is a wrapped Forest Green. Color is not something I see well. I can see the large difference between Granite Gray and Halfmoon Gray. It is stark.
The Forest Green in person is a beautiful color and the one my wife likes. I have yet to see LE Green in person.

Launch Green is more like a military green with more of a flat paint and Forest Green is darker, think pine green, with metallic flakes that really change depending on how light hits it.

I loved my Forest Green R1S. My second favorite color to Red Canyon.

All to say, they are very different in person and would not be hard to tell the two apart. Depends on whether you want a steady grayish green (launch) or darker richer green (FG).

Sounds like they're focusing on pumping out the colors they think people are most likely to want so they can produce as many R2's as possible to serve the broad middle while reducing complexity, at least to start.

It makes sense in a way, as long as they're offering a launch color you want.

I prefer the utility of a black interior, and I'm pretty sure Catalina Cove is my favorite color (need to see it in person to validate) and Launch Green is my second, so I'm happy that they'll be making more of those versus Borealis or Forest Green, but I feel for the folks who are left out by this approach.

Bc they have Launch Green available with the Launch Edition. At least that's their reasoning I bet lol.

Which is why it's the color I'll be getting on my R2 TANK :muscle:

If the color limitations at launch are true I admit I am puzzled by that. Rivian made a big deal last year about how their new paint line could switch colors very easily. So it shouldn't be a challenge for them to make all the colors to start with. Maybe it is a marketing thing as some have wondered, but if so, I have to say it doesn't make any sense to me. Offer all the colors right away!

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
If that is true, then there will be only two colors Catalina Cove and Launch Green with the remaining color between white and black. That is crazy.

I do hope the color choices are better with the R3X.
Don’t forget Esker Silver (light gray) and Half Moon Grey (dark gray). 🫤
