Amica is one of the highest-rated insurance companies, second to none in my view. Much cheaper rates, oustanding customer service in every way. SF, LM, all the others will never beat it, can't touch it.
We used to have Amica for homeowners insurance, but switched away when prices crept up. Never had them for auto, as they were 2x other options. When I shopped around last, they no longer served the Denver area for homeowners. They were very pleasant to deal with for a hail claim though!

It's happening everywhere. My brother just got a Nissan Rogue and Liberty refused to insure it. It's a third car, others are a Porsche and a BMW but the Rogue is the issue. Had to get a different carrier for that one.

In NJ I get killed but I also have two sons who are below 25 so it kills me.

Yup it has become a challenge to insure vehicles in NY, happening all over the place. You would think this was beach front property in Florida or something.

Increasing deductible to $2,000 all but wiped out the rate increase for me. Doable, but mothballing two of my EVs slashed policy premium in half.

It’s industry wide. Rates have been increasing ever since we returned to “normal” out of COVID. They lost a ton of revenue due to COVID lockdowns. People stopped driving. Some even sold their cars. Then people suddenly started driving again post-COVID, which means sudden uptick of claims, including cost of catalytic converter thefts. Add a few major fires and natural disasters, which piled on even more claims. Then, there is of course an underlying level of greed. Supply and demand. High demand for payouts in short amount of time from a pool of funds that was not full at end of COVID. That triggered a panic, to fill the pools back up. Gradually, what is supposed to be short-term strategy to stem losses turn into the new normal.

I pay $978 every 6 months for my 25 R1S. I guess i feel grateful now.

Regarding California, I had the same happen with Wawanesa who has generally had the lowest rates in CA but went up to $250+ /month. Went with Lemonade where I had a Renter's insurance policy and it is $78 + 0.15/mile. Based on the miles I drive will come out way lower. You do need to install a tracker though, so FYI
I too have wawanesa. Clean records on all drivers and our insurance has gone up 1k in two years. My renewal right now is about 1300 for my R1T 6 months. It's crazy.

Have you tried GEICO? My policy went down by $100 this December.

Also have you been driving over the speed limit or doing excessive breaking?
I know Rivian says they don’t sell our driving records, but who really knows

2024 we saw 28% increase on house and cabin homeowner's, 25% increase on PHEV and EV, from USAA. But zero change the last 8 years (apart from COVID drops) so ??‍♂

I'm also married though, so maybe y'all stags needa get hitched.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
FWIW I moved the Rivian from Nationwide back to Geico, and it was less than half the price - and that's with my college-age daughter on the same policy (Nationwide policy did NOT have her on it).

10k a year is so immensely stupid. Although I was paying $1k a year as a college kid myself, and that was on a car worth maybe $3k at the time?

I just got my six month auto insurance bill from Allstate. I live in the rural Florida Panhandle and have been insured by Allstate for over forty years. I have full coverage on three vehicles. I am insuring a 2015 Airstream Travel Trailer, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax, and a 2023 Rivian R1T.

Since my July bill, the six month premium on my Rivian has jumped from $688 to $800, a 17% increase. The Silverado and the Airstream did not increase at all.
