I've been driving my R1T on long distance trips recently and I've been noticing a loud noise inside the cabin when going above 65mph on the freeway.

I've already taken the truck for a repair since one of the piano trim pieces that covers the joint between the passenger window and the small piece of glass that is behind the side view mirror came off.

I am curious if others are experiencing a similar issue, it has gotten to the point that is very annoying to drive the car. I've driven a Volvo 2019 XC90, XC60, and S60 and they did not had this noise inside the cabin.

The videos are in high quality and I couldn't upload them to the forum but the drive link should be public.

I had mine in for noise and a few other things back in March. I was just starting another service ticket yesterday as the noise is still there. Anything over about 45mph I start to hear it at those small windows on both passenger and driver side. Next step is to bring out the tape and find the exact point of entry of the wind.

I'm really starting to question Rivian's build quality seeing these basic problems. I think the roof gaps really depict some shoddiness.

Wow that sounds horrible. I can confirm that my R1T does not sound like that. Even at 80 mph there is very little wind noise. Its a lot quieter than my Model Y was.

I noticed that someone did this on the thread I posted above, I'm going to try it tomorrow and see if taping the windows behind the side view mirrors make a difference.

Yes, it is quite annoying, my wife's old Xterra had this noise, but it was a 2004 suv with the door trim seals missing. But a new car is definitely not pleasant.

My benchmark is a 2019 S60 or XC90, the most quiet and relaxing drive you could ever have.

Is it potentially the gap between the front door (aft side) and the rear door (fwd side)? I have taped off the small window and windshield with no improvement. I guess I'll try to tape the door closed this evening and see if it's coming from the frame.

My passenger side window, near the small triangle window also will have wind noise that sounds like the window is open. I have noticed it on a few occasions but only on the passenger side.

Have a service ticket open so TBD

I took a 600mi trip yesterday and had plenty of time to hear the wind in my ears. I pushed on the inside of the window and it seemed the noise was most noticeable where the horizontal section met the diagonal. While charging ,later, I saw what could be the culprit. At that junction on the outside surface of the weatherstrip there is a valley or inward fold, like a mitered corner, where wind could easily move with nothing to stop it. Looks like it was intentionally designed for fabrication/installation purposes. True it gives a nice flat surface around the bend, but it leaves a gap. I will be having a service where they will be looking at this issue, but I also want to explore filling the cavity with something as simple as silicone seal. I will use a piece of plastic wrap against the window surface to act as a mold release agent. This may be a very easy fix after all.

Just a data point here, but mine is all well within what I consider appropriate. I would call it similar in wind noise level to previous Acuras I have owned. Just using my ear-o-meters...not scientific...

Mine is the exact same problem. It will go in for service in July to replace the triangle window. The Portland service center said they've had quite a few of these and its due to the weatherstripping that is catching wind apparently.

Service finally got back to me and had me look at the window closely. If I open the door and feel the black plastic outside housing it is not secured and I can freely move it, see the video below. I confirmed my drivers side is securely attached. It sounded like this is exactly what she was expecting.
