NOTHING changed with my gen1 R1S, no settings, haven't touched the camp speaker. In fact, kinda forgot it was down there.

I did install the software update, but that was a few days ago.

So I get in my R1S this morning and all of a sudden, this very loud powering down sound comes from somewhere in the vehicle. I thought that maybe the whole thing was powering down or something. It happened again and I was able to figure out that it was coming from below the cup holders.

I tried doing a soft/media reset, but that didn't fix it. I had to hit the road and drive about 100 miles, so I just let it be. Turns out that this loud powering down sound happens exactly every five minutes.

Once I got to my destination, I pulled the speaker out and did the three button reset on the speaker itself. So far, in the 20 or so minutes I've driven, the noise is gone.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this how you fixed it? Sorry if this is well documented, I didn't RTFF first.

Nothing to do with OTA. This has happened to others (use forum search, or Google with "rivianforums.com" in your search string)—failing to charge while in its dock. Remove and charge it with a computer or usb adapter on a home outlet.

This happened to me when I was sleeping in the back of my R1S while camping at 3am. Now the speaker sits on a shelf in the garage.

I had it do that low battery sound repeatedly a few weeks ago. Unlocked, removed, put back, and that fixed it.

I want(ed) to like the camp speaker. It's a cool idea. It just hasn't worked well for me, especially when I wanted it to. If I did the reset and charged with a usb-c, it would work for a bit, but usually not when, on the spur of the moment.
Anyone have a tried and preferred storage drawer replacement (I know there are other threads advertising and recommending options)?

It's in the manual (https://rivian.com/support/support-documents), which is accessible online, in your Rivian mobile app and the in-vehicle infotainment system.

While in park, just pull it out. If not in park, "unlock or lock the speaker from its dock on the center display by going to Settings (gear icon) > Connect > Dock.

Of course, I've tried both those things. It doesn't come out. Yes, I've done soft and hard resets. It doesn't come out. I've chatted with Rivian multiple times and they've basically told me to keep trying. It just doesn't come out.

Push in while attempting to unlock, that may relieve mechanical pressure/friction. If that doesn't work: create Service Request from your mobile app.

Known issue. Surprised you haven't run into this before now. Sometimes the speaker doesn't charge while docked. Which means you get that noise. Which means you'll need to take it out to charge fully then put back. Sometimes just undocking and docking works, though for me I've always had to take it out to charge. If that were the only issue, if you've tried to connect/use the speaker, you know it can be finicky to connect and then re-connect again in the future.

I've had mind replaced once and hard reset multiple times. Its a PITA. Rivian didnt engineer this accessory quite right.

Please report back with any updates if you have them. My camp speaker was chirping at me about every 30 seconds during my 25 minute commute this morning, from it's docking home under the center console. I tried to pull it out to see if pushing buttons would help, but it was locked. Got to a redlight and put the truck in park, and it was still locked. Went to settings to unlock it and the Locked button was unresponsive. When I arrived to work, still wouldn't unlock. Tried a soft reset, but no change. I let the truck sleep while at work, still won't unlock. I've used it off and on for two years, but I probably haven't used it since September of last year at this point.
