The action on the buttons that unlock the Center Console just stopped working on my R1T (after 11 months). Anyone else have this issue?

Mine didn’t stop working but one side did require a press in a specific location and did not work consistently

They were able to replace it on a mobile visit.

All because a simple latch wasn’t fancy enough. My passenger side button only worked if pushed in on the corner. Drivers side button worked no matter where you pushed it.

That’s a bummer. It’s a completely unnecessary complication and an annoying design that is hopefully revised.

We're living in a bad in-between zone of where the fancy latch is pointlessly complicated, but with the hopes they one day program in locking features via pin or valet mode.
Hope they get yours fixed soon!

I think it “could” be a useful feature once the valet mode gets introduced. Because the latch is electronic it can be limited in functionality with valet mode active, preventing it from opening so you can leave some valuables in there. A regular mechanical latch wouldn’t be able to do that. Tesla also has this feature for their glovebox, I figure Rivian planned this feature before the software was available to utilize it.

There’s something afoot with locking consoles.
I just got my 30 Day post delivery survey from Rivian and there was a whole section on: would you value the center console, rear armrest , and gear tunnel access to be lockable.

Just happened across your comment, we are having the same issue. Naturally, service wouldn’t say that Mobile could fix it, as they said if may be more involved and require removal of the entire center console. I’m going to lush for them to officially include it now that I’ve seen more people with the same issue.

We took Factory Delivery of our R1T on April 26, 2023. During the familiarization session at the Factory Delivery Center, The Rivian technician was demonstrating how various functions worked. He showed how the center console operated and only the button on the driver's side worked. The passenger side button did not work at all. A service ticket was put in at that point.

Three months and 3,000 miles later, only the driver's side center console button works. Since we can open the console, we have not worried about it. We have not had any other issues so far and this issue is not worth a 300 mile trip to a Service Center.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I had two issues with my center console.

First, the driver’s side button worked intermittently. That was repaired, apparently through a software or config patch?

Next, the latch mechanism broke on the driver’s side flip up broke, so it would no longer close. This happened on a road trip and I found myself needing to use my elbow to keep it closed at all times. It was deeply irritating. Again, fixed under warranty.

This a case where simple is better. But since we have complicated, having a SW-controlled lock might be useful.

I've said it before on this forum, and I'll say it again:

"Just because you CAN automate something doesn't mean you SHOULD."

This console is a good example.
