I’m parking my R1S in friends garage this week and I’ve noticed a melody precisely every 20 seconds when unlocked. Windows are all shut, doors are shut, frunk and liftgate are locked. I can’t figure out what else the sound might be for… anyone know?

Can you take a video of the sound? Might help us narrow it down.

Ohhhh- it’s been so long since I’ve had a camp speaker issue I forgot about that! Lemme check and take a video if that’s not it!

Happened to me too. It's now sitting in my garage where it can't annoy me anymore.

Same. I put it on a charger just in case. I’m going to buy one of those aftermarket drawers and have that in the car instead.

I think something went wrong with mine because it won’t power on or off (it’s not obeying th buttons). I recall that vaguely from the last time it was low on batteries

Oh yeah that's right. Same. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off so I pulled it.

First, charge it using a USBC somewhere for a few hours. Then hold the Bluetooth link button for about 15 seconds to reset the speaker. It’s unfortunate that many people (and the user manual) misconstrue “resetting” with simply “powering off.” In my case the top buttons were non responsive and thus there is no way to power it down (and the instructions call this “reset” somewhere IIRC). Anyway, the whole key is the Bluetooth button so you can truly wipe the speaker (I believe this erases all saved linked devices).

The manual documents a reset function that involves pressing three buttons for several seconds. That was the only way I could stop mine from chirping and it hasn’t been a problem since.

Ah yes, I found what you're talking about! On page 336 of the manual they document two different "reset" functions (Factory and Hardware):

-----

I was working from years-ago memory, but it seems the current edition manual still reads exactly as I suspected a bit earlier on page 332. I've put a green box around the "true" [hardware] reset function that I'm referring to (it only took about 15 seconds, so I question the precision of their timing info). I've used orange to highlight the very poor language that realistically refers to a power cycle operation, but in these instructions they are overloading the word "reset" with a third meaning.

Overloaded terms can indeed be confusing. It was the factory reset that did the trick for me.

Press Action (concentric circles), Volume Down and Play/Pause simultaneously for 7+ seconds.

There were several reports of similar chirping problems about three weeks ago, and I suspect that an OTA software update affected the camping speakers in some way. Reset did the trick, and I haven’t worried about it since.
