Take it easy on the Jag. I put 110,000 miles on my fpace and it needed nothing more than a water pump. I sold it when I got my Rivian. It was exponentially smoother at higher speeds than my R1S.Talk about reliability ?
Fellow (ex)-R1S owner. At about 87 mph this car gets very “squishy” and terribly responsive to quick inputs, especially after the most recent suspension update.I thought the limit was 112, or did that change?
Anyways, there are a lot of factors that go into a speed governor. One is the tire speed rating. The Scorpion ATs are only rated to 118mph to begin with. I’m sure it’s higher on the other tires but they’re going to go with the lowest common denominator here. I’m betting battery performance, wear and tear, and safety are other considerations. I do think it would be cool to hear Rivian’s reasoning behind it. Might be a cool engineering story.
Either you don’t actually have an R1 or something is very wrong with yours. My R1 is as rock solid as speeds over 100mph as my Cayenne was. It’s not going to take corners as well but it’s just as good on the highway.
Loved my Land Rovers. Can’t speak much about their reliability. Glad to hear the Jag treated you well.Take it easy on the Jag. I put 110,000 miles on my fpace and it needed nothing more than a water pump. I sold it when I got my Rivian. It was exponentially smoother at higher speeds than my R1S.
I'm not an engineer but I think it has less to do with the HP than the fact that it's designed like a brick. A nice brick but a brick non the less. The R1S can easily do 100 mph like its nothing. 112 mph with 835hp is ridiculously low. 130 minimum.
My Quad-Motor R1T (22k VIN) had almost zero wind noise the first few months until I put up the cargo crossbars on the roof recently. Now there is a barely perceptible wind sound over 75mph.Ok, no wind noise at 90? I wanna know everyone on the line that built your truck and have them build my next one!![]()
Unlike a gas vehicle, giving it more power on tap doesn't really take more battery usage, unless battery conditioning is involved. Only when you're actually using that power.Would be genius marketing move if they added even just 5% power via update. And maybe added a chill mode for those who don’t want so much power/any range trade offs. Default is the full power.
Default is not the full power. All purpose is probably around 750hp and sport mode gives you full power.Would be genius marketing move if they added even just 5% power via update. And maybe added a chill mode for those who don’t want so much power/any range trade offs. Default is the full power.
