Comparing consumption: Jeep Wrangler vs. Rivian R1T

I’ve got United Power, just north of Denver, and we’re paying $0.0995 between 10pm - 2pm. High Demand rates jump to $1.50. Seems like a lot but, even though I work from home, I really don’t use a lot of power during those times.

I’d love to go solar but the orientation of my house and the roof shape make it more cost prohibitive.

Home rates are cheap, which is great and why I switched to an EV.

Should compare local charger rates, EvGO or Tesla magic doc. Then I think the cost is the same.

Never expected to have the cheap electricity in NY....Typically I'm just over 2 cents per kwh

It amazing that right across the river in Vancouver Washington we are at a flat rate of .08 and only a line fee for a few bucks. PGE is a rip off. It sure is nice having Clark PUD.

PGE is still paying off the Trojan nuclear reactor - which was torn down in 2006. And paying off their legacy of being owned by Enron. And yet we still have some of the cheapest power in the nation (behind only Pacific Northwest PUDs.)

Went on a grade school fieldtrip to Trojan! At least it produced power vs. the WPPSS "Whoops" ones that were unfinished and mothballed.

Huh, I never knew that. I remember when the nuclear cooling towers came down. They got shut off way before that too early 90s. Such a waste.

My off-peak 11p-7a EV rate with GA power is $0.01/kwh. Really makes the math easy for buying my wife and I each an EV.

I thought my off-peak rate was pretty good with Sawnee at $0.04, but it's 4x more than GA Power! damn it..

My PGE (not PG&E) rate is $0.17 for "mid-peak", $0.22 for peak, and $0.04 for off-peak overnight.

My PG&E rates: Peak is $0.56/kWh Partial-Peak is $0.45/kWh Off-Peak is $0.25/kWh

Average is under 16 cents. Excluding the wacky power markets (HI, AK CA, NY, New England) it is under 13 cents. We pay under 11 cents for 100% renewable.

This is Chicago on a hot day mid July. My Rivian charges from 10p-3a and my wife's Tesla charges from 3a-6a.
