Very possibly but it’s far easier to simply jump to conclusions. :)
What's the point of having this if you can't use it?

I wanted to post a quick update. Rivian fixed my roof and I just got the truck back. They fully covered the cost under warranty, and I didn't even have to ask for it. They said there was no evidence for any impact point, and they don't know how/why it cracked.

Well you're luckier than me. The service center determined that since the crack on my roof had an "impact point," they could not put it in as warranty work (even though the crack was on the inside glass and not the outside). Unfortunately I don't have enough followers on social media to get comped the repair cost like * some people * so I'm out of pocket $2,171 and filing another insurance claim (and hoping USAA doesn't try to screw me on this one too).

Gave my R1T it’s first bath yesterday. While washing the roof, I noticed that the glass is cracked all the way from one side to other. Put in a service ticket. Will report back with the replacement service experience.

After 5 days of ownership I thought I saw a small Crack in the corner of the roof glass but wasn't sure due to all the dirt on the glass. I got a ladder, windex and paper towels. As soon as I started to clean the area that looked cracked, the cracks spread out. I put in a service ticket but was told I would have to wait over 100 days for the glass to come in. The cracks have spread throughout. Do you all think it is safe to drive?

Rivian should definitely cover these if there is no sign of outward impact from a point on glass or edge. Surely so bad batches of glass out there that crack under temp changes or pressure exerted from the frame. Does the roof glass down down into a slot somewhat or rest on the frame more... Seems flush so fits in a bit.

I think that I would request that they examine it now, so that they can make a determination that it is a defect, not due to impact. Who knows what might happen in the next 100 days - some small thing could make it look like an impact had caused it. I think that after it has been examined the SC, I would want to apply some film to add strength, to ensure it doesn't break during the interim period.

Service center called yesterday to reschedule my R1S delivery by a few days so they can replace the roof glass that was found to have a small crack during the service center’s pre-delivery inspection. My R1S is a May build.

You are very lucky that they found it now. I am surprised that they did, because their pre-delivery inspections don't seem to be very comprehensive. It would have been an expensive repair, most likely charged to you, if they hadn't found it.

This is off topic, but how did you figure out yours is a May build? Does some part of the VIN provide that?

You can deduce your build date pretty accurately by following the extensive threads on delivered R1S VINs.

Well at least they can't blame the owner for this one unless they claim he used telekinetic powers from afar to break it

Brackets up there for roof mounting adventure gear means it's logical people will be placing their hands on the glass while load/unloading said gear. Doesn't make sense that the glass would break so easily.

That being said, I've washed mine several times, and I always avoid putting weight on the glass. I use a sponge and will either stand in the bed or on the truck tires to reach. When using a chamois to dry the truck, I'll open a door and stand on the frame.

There is a sticker in the drivers doorway. Bottom right between the front and rear door. Build month is there very clearly and you do not need to translate a VIN.

It's on the door jamb sticker if you want to check yours. Lower righthand corner I believe, in mm/yy format.
