Damp Smell in R1S

Haven't climbed in a decade But yea, that stuff got a bit rank, not hockey gear rank, but close.

My wife thinks it's coming out of the vents, but only on start up, then it seems to clear.

I put paper under my floor mats to see if there is any moisture.

So Rivian replaced the drain plug, and replaced the air filter gratis. It seems to have fixed the issue.

And the smell is back... Going back in on Tuesday. Time to tear the dash off and clean the coil for real.

The carpets on my Rivian were wet along the center console area and mainly the drivers side. The truck had an odor. I typically leave the windows open when parked in the garage and the carpets dried up fairly quickly. I think this cycle was happening for a while.

The Rivian is in for service and they said the entire HVAC box requires replacement. Good luck!

I haven’t seen any moisture in the cabin. I even put paper under my floor mats for a week to see if I was missing anything. The smell blows out of the vents for a few seconds when the blower first turns on, then it is pretty much gone. But every time I get back in the car, there it is coming out of the vents again.

It sounds like your issue might be different. Hopefully Rivian service gets it repaired soon.

Moisture and mildew in the ducting. Are you in a humid climate? There are products to spray into ducts to kill the mildew. From there on let air blow for a bit to dry ducts before shutting off and parking to avoid condensation.
