I have seen a couple of discussions on how to disable the center console phone charger,
but unfortunately I did not save them.
Could someone please point me to a video or instructions on how to accomplish this?

I pick up my Adventure R1S from the Atlanta SC on Monday - super excited !!

@ceetiger - Located in Clemson? I haven't seen an R1S around here, yet. Only that green R1T. I've got my blue R1S scheduled to arrive in November.

Actually, I am in Salem. I pick up my R1S on Monday at the Atlanta SC.

Maybe we can meet up if you want to see mine after I get it. Mine is
Limestone with Forest Edge interior.

You don't have it yet and already you've decided to rip out the charging pad? Way to judge based on what you read on the internet.

My charging pad still works great after a year, with 5 different models of phone.

Your results may vary - I have an iPhone 14 Pro, in a waterproof case. Anyway, my main
reason for disabling the charger is phantom drain. What I choose to read and believe
is my business, so don't concern yourself too much.

I think it’s pretty well established that it won’t charge a phone in a case. Mine was totally worthless, even when my iPhone wasn’t in a case, but I replaced it with an Adventure Mat from Adventure High Tech and its awesome. The Rivian one looks and feels very high quality, it just doesn’t work.

My phone never worked on the stock charger. Went aftermarket and it charges great now.

There's no question that some people have problems. But some people don't. All the phones used in my car are in a case, and I can charge several models of Android phone and several models of iPhone. I don't have any of the problems that other people report. I think the charging pad works well and it is more convenient to charge my phone in my R1T than in any other car I've owned.

And that's my point - you're not going to see hundreds of posts from people whose charger pad just works, all you're going to see is posts from people who have complaints. I suggest trying it yourself and determining for yourself whether you want to find a third party solution to charging.

Works okay for me. Pixel 3 XL in a case. But the phone tends to slide around too much to really be useful. There's a variety of upgrades available but those seem primarily oriented for Apple/MagSafe devices. I do like the one that has an integrated drawer, however.

That said, disabling it before you've even received the truck? Wtf? ?

Pretty sure Wassym himself conceded at a public event that the phone charger is garbage, or at least words to that effect. That said, mine's good enough for my purposes.

I pulled mine out for the drain as well. Also I prefer plugging in when I need a quick boost of power. Took two red lights and some fingernails; now its a pound of copper sitting on a shelf.
Spent a summer at Clemson, love everything but the heat down there!
