Dumb question. I was in Ocean City, MD, a couple months ago and ran into a family driving a Lightning. They said how much they loved it, and we got to talking about the charging situation in OC (which is notoriously bad. We took the wife's ICE car this year). They said they'd had better luck finding chargers in Delaware (which was where they had come through) but their greatest success was charging at colleges & universities along the way. Of course they had a college-age student driving (with the dad riding shotgun).

So my question is: do most colleges and universities have EV chargers available now? I've never seen one on a map of available chargers, but I'm guessing the kid driving knew all the hook-ups. Any idea?

Even if the best charging on the planet was located on college campuses, If it meant I had to talk to more college age people I would take my chances out here in the Wild West :D

I know that Clemson University has more than a dozen chargers all over campus.

I have visited 10 college campuses this summer. ChargePoint has L2 chargers in every one of them. Pricing varies from free to extortionary. DCFC is essentially nonexistent.

I don’t know about all, but UCLA has a lot of level 2 and a ton of level one 110 sockets in pretty much all parking garages specifically for EV charging

The small college where I live has at least one lvl 2. I'm headed to Cincinnati today and the university there has 2 lvl 2's and an old DCFC that are free. Lvl 2s are in pay parking garages and apparently the DCFC CCS connector hasn't worked for a while now. Chademo still works according to Plugshare. Just check plugshare for any university you are curious about.

I just returned from the Delaware beaches last week. Their charging situation is every bit as bad as OC. Not a single non-Tesla DCFC, although a couple have been sitting in the wrappers at the mall outlets for close to a year.

CU - Boulder unsurprisingly has a handful.

I was in Gunnison this weekend and was staying at an Airbnb right near Western state University where I used the a level 2 on campus to top up.

As others have said, some locations have them.. but all L2 which means about 15miles/hr added for Rivian. So, kind of useless for road tripping unless you need some charge just to make it to the next L3 station.

I saw on PlugShare that there are many EV chargers Level 2 on the Dallas campuses, but Level 3 seems to be limited to around 10 units in the entire area. Can you please advise if Level 2 will be sufficient for a Rivian?

If you are sitting there, charging up your brain in search of inspiration for your argumentative essays, then I have an incredible resource for you. My friend showed me https://edubirdie.com/examples/argumentative-essays/ which became my lifesaver in the world of college challenges. I found invaluable examples there that not only help with studies but also inspire the creation of your own masterpieces.

You probably saw the other posts already, but in case you're still wondering L2 is only going to get you around 15 miles of range per hour of charging in a Riv. That's fine if parking overnight or for the day. But not good for road trips.
