Does anyone else absolutely hate the Rivian Assistant voice?

It's not just you, the Rivian AI voice sounds too stereotypically "millennial" to me, with her vocal fry and up-talk. I am expecting her to start every reply with "Yeah, so..."

Now that I've gotten that off my chest I have to go shout at those damn kids to get off my lawn.

Us Millennials are 40 years old now… WE are the ones getting kids off our lawns.

Next person that popped into my head was Patrick Warburton, seemed like he'd be hilarious. Do it as Kronk, Brock Samson, or the wolf from Hoodwinked. Basically any of his voice work, it's all great.

That's hillarious! Warburton was also on my list as my young daughter suggested "the guy from The Emporer's New Groove" when I asked her who she thought would be a good voice.

Anyone bothered by an AI voice has a blessed life. I'm too busy worrying about all the other things in the world.

Not too concerned about the tone, but sometimes RA talks too much. I saw a setting where you can limit the chattiness, and also you can interrupt RA and not wait for responses to complete. Just talk naturally.

Short answer: yes. I absolutely can't stand that voice. My iPhone has options, and my personal preference would be a male voice that sounds like he's reading the news in Fort Worth, TX, but that's just me. My Rivian's name is Rufus and when that Temecula, CA voice comes out of the speakers it just causes my teeth to hurt. The navigation voice is worse.

Maybe I'm too Midwestern, but I've spent the majority of my life working at major silicon valley companies and I can't get over how absolutely "condescending, 20-something, LA/San Fran cashier who hates their job and hates you worse for making them DO their job" the Rivian Assistant sounds to me. Why is there so much vocal fry?

Like it makes sense that voice "sounds right" to the people out in CA and their technology peers - because it sounds like everyone I've worked with out there the last decade or so

No, I am not nearly as mad about this as the rant above might make it seem. Yes, I am having a little fun venting about it. Yes, it really does annoy me every time I hear her responses. Yes, I do hope we get more options in the future.

Also, I have hit a reproducible "bug" when asking for navigation.

Provide a street address, assistant finds multiple options for that address across cities & states, asks for clarification. Provide clarification, assistant finds the right address,confirms it is going to navigate to it... But nothing happens. It never actually sets up the nav for the address.

Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Jeez! I couldn't agree more. I just used my Rivian assistant for navigation from Cincinnati to Fort Worth and quickly grew so sick of her. My iPhone Siri has a male option who is bland and generic, which is what I would love to have for my R1T. Don't get me wrong, I love my Rivian and will likely have another one in the future--- but that damnable AI voice is almost enough to make me reconsider. I just wish there were downloadable options for voice mods, as well as display graphic DLC. RIVIAN, if you're reading this, do something about that irritating Trader Joe's cashier voice!

I'm still waiting for someone to do Homer Simpson in a navigation system. "Doh! You missed the turn!" And every time you pass a Dunkins, "Mmmmm, donuts."

I have Siri set up with a Irish female voice. So I do have my preferences, but my impression of Rivian's AI didn't bring up such a nightmarish scenario. But then I do live in California, but far from Silicon Valley.

Voice is fine by me, but I do wish it had options to speak other languages. Great way to practice.
