Does anyone have any updated intel on Rivian V2H status?

Hi, we have a Gen 2 R1T with the max pack battery, which we got for two reasons; transport and power for when the sun isn't providing via our solar array. We do have 10Kwh of backup battery in the house, but would really like to have access to that huge Rivian battery too.

I searched for recent postings on this topic and found nothing recent... Just curious if this is because there is no notable progress... TIA!!

If you haven't noticed there are definitely some elements of Tesla inside Rivian and that leads them to be overly promotional at times and talk about things way way before they are ever close to fruition. Tech bros be tech bros I guess.

There's been no information of any substance in a long time. I personally don't think there is anything "coming s00n". My guess is that it will be via an OEM partnership, not a Rivian designed product.

It's being worked on. I know a few of the engineers. Timing is confidential of course.

They talked about it in 2024 and said R1 would have max 24kw DC bidirectional. R2 and R3 will have AC bidirectional probably at 11 kw. If you already have an inverter, DC on your R1 could be good, but otherwise the hardware will be spendy. What I want more than anything is bidirectional DC V2V so we can help out fellow EVs on the trail or road.

I anticipate the NACS transition threw a wrench into their hardware design. I would not be surprised to see them decide not to even support the CCS vehicles.

Last time that Rivian made any “official” statements about bidirectional charging was at the 2024 Investor Day in June. That came after the announcement about changing charging ports for the R2/R3 and specifically included mention of it being a feature coming to the existing R1 vehicles. So, anyone’s guess when it’ll happen but as of last June it sounds like the plan was to have it be a feature of all Rivians. Okay, maybe not the EDVs, those haven’t been mentioned in the context of any discussion of bidirectional charging from what I can remember.
