Since .47, I have had intermittent issues with Road Cam not available. I reformatted my 2TB drive and it recorded again. Sometimes I notice that once I get in the truck it says it isn't available with a line through the icon and then it goes away in about 10 seconds and it is recording again. It acts as if the system is slow and booting up before it recognizes the drive. A few times when it stays "unavailable" I have unplugged it from the USB-C port and plugged it back in before it was recognized and recording again. It works, but it's annoying that it's not automatic all the time.
I have the exact same issues currently and have for the last several weeks. It may have been happening since the past update (Christmas) and I just never noticed.

Hello. I tried searching different terms and hope I didn't miss a relevant thread.

I noticed my drive cam icon had a line thru it. I went to settings and saw the drive cam wasnt working. Went thru a reinstall of the drive and it errors out. Soft reset of no use.

Feels correlated with the .51 update but couldn't say for certain.

I have one of those rectangular 2 gb Samsung drives a lot of us installed. Worked flawlessly for over a year.

Just wondering if this is common or if there is a known remedy. Thanks in advance.

I wasted a couple hundred dollars trying to find a workable usb drive. I finally consulted my geek brother for guidance. He informed me that only flash drives with a certain processing speed would be compatible. He also explained that some solid state drives would work, but be destroyed by the way they have to process the files to play them back. Here is what I bought per his specs. It connected, formatted, and worked the first time, and has been great and fast so far. Rivian should have included this equipment, or provided much more guidance, as it is too technical for an average customer. I bought an angular plug and an adapter with a short cable as well, so it can lay out of the way. Good luck. It is a nice feature when you get it working.

Sometimes unplugging the drive and reconnecting it will clear the issue. Sometimes it could be one of two things, a bad usb cord, or I have had it where it kept disconnecting, I seemingly solved it by connecting it to my laptop and clearing over 1TB of driving footage. It hasn't returned in a couple months now, so seems to be cycling properly by deleting the oldest footage and writing over it.

Just to close the loop.....

Unplugging and plugging back in did not clear the issue. Nor did the recent OTA update fix it.

I did finally plug the drive into a Windows computer and format as exFAT (which was already the format). The truck decided it liked the drive again and it is working now.
