I'm stuck too. The UCB-C ports don't recognize a brand new freshly formatted SSD drive. I'm trying to get some footage for law enforcement. I had a vandalism incident. I'll try a data stick next. Help!
how far did you get into the setup process on the truck? If it sees it, but fails tests, try an infotainment reset (hold outer left and outer right buttons on the steering wheel for 15 seconds) this has fixed the issue for several others.

Finally got it working thanks to a chat exchange with a guy in tech support.

The failure had to do with device format. Mine were all exFAT. It's a little confusing. I kept seeing a message that promised FAT32 formatting if my device wasn't already. That's just not true.

The tech guy directed me to turn on Drive Cam. Turning Drive Cam on prompted me to connect a device which the truck proceeded to initialize in FAT32 format.

Then, before ejecting the device, I switched to the Motion Cam menu and copied off the videos I wanted.

Throw it onto a computer and format it EXFAT, then bring it back to the R1 and try again.
I don't believe exFAT is correct. When I connected exFAT to one of the glovebox ports, the R1T prompted me to connect a drive (acting as if it didn't recognize the one I connected).

The solution was to turn motion cam on. That gave me a prompt to insert a drive. In this context the R1T recognized and formatted the drive as FAT32.

Reformatting on a computer to EXFAT didn't work. Tried both ports. Called Rivian, but they didn't have any idea. They said they would do some research and get back to me.
I have the same issue!

I've tried the following three drives, and setup fails each time.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WB2NL8W?th=1

Makes it past connecting and formatting, but then give an error after the speed test. Any ideas?

For others still running into this issue a soft reset helped me get past the speed test error.

fixed my issue too, thank you!!!
Keep an eye on it.. the current SW has a known bug in it that disables drive cam unless you reboot the infotainment system. Unfortunately, the reset only works for a short period and drive cam becomes disabled again.
