It depends what part of Canada you are going. When I drove from Vancouver to Jasper/Banff the majority of the road didn't have cell signal therefore no navigation. I knew this so I brought my Garmin GPS as secondary navigation device and it worked flawlessly. As long as you are staying in major cities then you are fine but as soon as you drive outside then no cell signal.

Spend a lot of time driving around Seattle and Vancouver. Everything works flawlessly. When you cross the border, KPH automatically is added in addition to MPH even if you dont change the units settings. WIll disapear when you cross back in the US. Everything works including Hotspot and Navigation.

Other than the car typically not connecting to a Canada cell network for up to 15 minutes after crossing (it tries to stay on the home network in US as long as possible), it works great. We take our R1S to Vancouver a couple of times a month.

That's got to be a Rivian problem, because Hwy 1 definitely has cell coverage the entire way. That's just another reason for CarPlay - you could have easily used offline maps instead of having to buy and carry a separate GPS device.
