They don't know what vehicle you drive before you plug in. $50 hold isn't enough in some cases.

Disaster!
This amount of power delivered is almost the full Rivian battery correct? Damn that hummer really is the EV equivalent to the gas one.

I recently used 7 different 350kw EA chargers and had 1 that throttled due to failed cable cooling (36kw rate). I would say that's pretty good. And EA has been getting better and will continue to get better. Contrary to what some believe, Tesla isn't going to be the only charging network in the US. Just can't happen.
I just completed a 1,750 mile trip from Texas, through Oklahoma, into Arkansas and back to Texas. I used 5 different EA stations, 3 Chargepoint stations (2 62.5 Kw and one 9.6 kw Level 2) and Tesla L2 station with a Lectron adapter overnight at a hotel. The only issues I had were due to thermal throttling. 1 new EA 350 kw unit in Bellmeade, TX at 144 kw peak when air temps were 105 degrees and an older EA 350 kw unit in Little Rock that ramped to 170 kw then dropped to 39 kw. In Little Rock I moved to a 150kw unit and only got 110 kw but again air temps were upper 90s. I had two stops at older EA stations where the app said the 350 units were unavailable but the units screen said they were ready so I used NFC to start the charge. The other locations I was able to start with the app. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of charging.
I did have an issue with a 62.5 kw Chargepoint unit in Oklahoma that I reported because it would only give 32 kw. Luckily the second unit ramped to the full 62.5 Kw while my son and I ate lunch.
My EA rules:

Download the app and register before the journey
Always use the App to pay for the charge and NEVER use the payment system at the charger
Use the 150kw station if you can and only if that's busy than try the 350W
The new EA 350 chargers have been much more reliable. I use them as much as possible. They look like the attached photo.

And .... just in time for the 4th Holiday weekend ?? , of the 13 EA chargers within about a 20 mile radius from me only 6 are working (that's 46% functional rate!!). The nearest one is 1 out of 4 working! All this "excitement" about adding NACS connectors to EA isn't going to solve the sh*tty performance issues of EA. I REALLY hope that the NEVI penalties kick in once EA starts accepting funds.

Were you able to tell if the throttling was from the EA charger overheating, or if it was internal to the truck due to battery temp?

It was definitely from the EA units. The screen on the R1T had a message saying the charger was limiting power below what the truck was requesting.
