For the record, I have a Jeep Wrangler with no back-up camera and I have not forgot to turn my head.

Had to stop watching when the tool on the left said "you sit down and the car starts, you tap the gas and the car lurches forward"... um how about you forgot to mention that the driver has to step on and hold down the brake pedal then actively put the car in gear then release the brake then step on the accelerator pedal before it can "lurch forward" genius?

More idiots with opinions...

Agreed, F for both of them for the misleading information they both were spewing.

I alternated between a Tesla and Jeep GC for 6 years and had no issues switching back and forth.

The comment about the EV companies needing to do more to educate people is a joke. How about people take responsibility to educate themselves on what they are buying. There is so much information out there if you know nothing it is because you did zero research.

I have the opposite problem. I put it in reverse and turn my body around to look, try to hit the accelerator and the Rivian turns itself off instead.

I still don't like Regen brakes. They are laggy and take a full second to reach peak braking after letting go of the throttle pedal. This was designed for people who treat it like a switch. I don't treat it like a switch and would like it to react quicker. I would prefer a more aggressive mode.

It's also very hard to control in a parking lot speeds and while reversing. It also slows my reaction time to brake. Proof: Rivian just released an update to address this. We will see how it works.

Ok, enough venting. The real reason EVs are expensive to repair has nothing to do with them being EVs at all in most cases. It's just bad design and cost cutting with giga castings. Teslas don't have any sensors. Ford CEO seems pretty dumb, like a wall street guy.

Use your seatbelt and/or keep your butt on the seat.

It’s a safety function. It thinks you have left the vehicle if your weight lifts off the seat when you turn to look.

The only person at fault here is the poor sod in the Wuhan market that ate something he shouldn't have and unleashed armageddon. A lot of people just forgot how to drive during covid. Forget EVs-people just can't drive anymore. PAAK (phone as a key)!

Below is another source that seems legit with some interesting stats. I do agree with only one thing the former Ford CEO said, and that is getting used to instant torque. I think it's pretty easy to master for most people, but maybe an even less aggressive initial throttle mapping wouldn't be a bad thing. But release the Kraken in Sport mode or when the accelerator is half-way to the carpet. Also, I wish there was a creep mode when you release the brake. That last inch in the garage takes a bit more finesse than some people can muster. Remember, we are pretty much all car nuts here, but I am not sure if I would just hand the keys over to a newbie driver without my frontal lobe generating horrible images. BTW, the brake light only comes on if one lets off the pedal quickly - as it should. If you "coast", it doesn't just like any other car.

https://www.lookupaplate.com/blog/e...ed,of EVs totalled 35% heavier than their ICE

I feel that the ‘instant torque’ makes me more attentive on the road. There is also a bit of finesse to not give passengers nausea. Also it is more enjoyable to drive an EV

I feel it is not just EVs, its is just different car design and operation and this can happen between different brands of ICE too.
Saying that, I would like the option to have creep mode when parking. I find those small movements a lot easier to do in my Volt than the R1S.
My S has been in the shop this week and a couple of times I have begun to exit my Outback with the engine still running ;-)
