Received my adapter over the weekend (10/23 QM). Went to a Tesla charging station today to try it out.

Everything worked as intended. 37 kwh in 20 minutes @ $0.74/kwh, which was almost 50% more expensive than last time I used EVgo.

I parked on the other side of the charger, which worked and I didn't block anyone or take more than 1 space.

First, I am a Tesla and Rivian owner. I am completely aware of how great Tesla SCs are on roadtrips.

The way I look at the SC access and use is if it is the most practical and convenient stop location during a road trip, then I'll use it with Rivian (clearly I always use it on Tesla road trips). Otherwise, RAN and EA are both much less costly and especially if RAN is in route, its preferred for now since its only Rivian accessible for now.

RAN will have to increase prices soon.

I own both too. When you use a Tesla SC for your Rivian, do you launch the Tesla app? Does this change the cost any?

Just curious--why?

In reality: as infrastructure grows, competition should grow, and prices should (eventually) come down. It'll for sure be a slow burn, but I don't understand why you think pricing would increase?

Think of it as the gas station model. How often do you see the station across the street selling gas $0.05 less expensive than the one that's on your side of the highway? Eventually, we'll have options.

Just got my adaptor. One question: why is it only usable on DCFS?

Ditto. I used my new adaptor last weekend and it was just plug and charge. $0.48 per kWh.
I used the last charger so I didn't block any of the other stalls.
The only disappointment was that the Tesla chargers closest to my house and work are too old to be compatible.

Again, for now.
That won't last forever. In fact, I'd be surprised if it lasts another year or two. There are economic incentives in place for building out charging infrastructure, so we'll see continued growth, at least near term.

And I wouldn't call it 'very' successful. Especially with route planning software baked into most EVs, even marginally well, we're planning charges literally days before the trip. If you know you can find a station that's $0.20 less expensive, people will start planning as such, even if it's 10 miles further down the road.

$0.48/kwh? I'll have to try another station on a weekend to see if it's cheaper.

I’m very pleased with the adapter and access to the Tesla network. I used it twice on a recent road trip. Awesome. Game changer.

note: one Tesla station near my friend’s ski house was super convenient (Bethel Maine) but was not showing on my Rivian map or app. Tried it anyway and it did not connect / charge. Maybe it was a Gen 2!? But just a warning to verify if its adapter compatible or not (or magic dock) as I spend several minutes attempting several connections, checking preferred payment status… etc.

If the Tesla station is not in the Rivian app/in-vehicle map, you can't use it. Either due to age of the station, or Tesla deciding not to open it up.
