I love my Rivian! I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle. But I'm hoping to find a fix for a persistent problem I'm having with my windshield wipers in the winter. They get icy and don't clear my windshield, and blasting the defrost or heating the cabin don't help because of the positioning of the wiper blades. I found an older thread that basically said there's nothing you can do. Some people even said they just can't drive when it's wet/cold/snowy/icy because they can't see.

Does anyone know of a solution?

What kind of windshield washer fluid are you using? Is it rated for the temperatures you are.currently experiencing?

That's definitely not the issue. Mine is rated for something like -25F and I was getting frozen crap on the blades at around 30-32F. Only thing that prevented it was blasting the defrost, but that just resulted in cooking me since you can't control the temperature or fan speed. If there is in fact a wiper heating element in the windshield, they need to enable that as a separate button like every other car I've owned with one or it should be tied to the rear defrost like the side mirror heaters are.

I have this exact problem as well. When it is snowing and using the wipers a build up of ice and snow forms on the drivers side of the windshield. This then sticks to the wiper blades and smears water / ice across the windshield making it near impossible to see out the windshield.
Sorry no fix yet other than a gloved hand out the window to scrape off the buildup.

Not a real fix but I wonder if rain-x would help? I did a treatment myself and it was a night and day difference in the rain.

A possible solution to tackle icy windshields is to go for silicone wiper blades— as they tend to be more resistant to icing. Also, try slathering on some silicone-based treatment on your windshield for a protective shield against ice.
Also, you can lift those wiper blades off the glass when you park. It’ll keep them from freezing up and turning into ice magnets.
And you may consider using a windshield cover specifically designed for winter conditions. They not only shield the windshield but also provide insulation against freezing temperatures, protecting your wiper blades from the freezing cold.
