We don't have kids, but we do tow horses occasionally and nobody wants to deal with these kinds of charger issues when your range is already reduced by 50% with a trailer. So we stick to ICE for longer trips if they come up.Yeah this was super rough and given a whole young family in tow I'm pretty restricted on time and logistics (this is part of the growing pains for EVs... right now you have to plan around the vehicle but ICE graduated past that many many years ago where the transportation is essentially commoditized/irrelevant when it comes to your logistics because 'it just works' ).
The result here is that the Rivian is almost certainly getting relegated to ferry range or less and the Raptor is getting back into pole position for longer road trips.
That's why we might get the new RamCharger when it comes out in 2 years. The idea of a range extended EV truck makes a lot of sense for towing until we get better EV infrastructure.
