Garage Geolocation Bug?

For the first few months of my Gen 2 R1T, the display would always offer on my main display my garage door to open when I'm at home (via the right button of the right paddle). Starting a few weeks ago, numerous times I've had to disengage then reengage that function for it to work. When I reengage, it immediately shows the option to open the door, so it's not a geolocation issue. Anyone else seeing this issue?

No, but I did blow up a brand new tire on a curb while trying to use the tiny little icons on the main display to open mine a couple weeks back... Definitely converted to using the wheel controls for it now

Mine has been intermittent since the last update. It always works when I’m leaving but 50/50 when I come home. I figure it will be fixed in the next update so I’m just waiting for that. Gen1 R1T.

Mine shows it randomly, like when braking or something like that. If I dismissed it, it won't show up again when I come home.

I also figured it was firmware that broke things, but hopefully Rivian is aware and works on a revision.

Same, unconcerned though, you can just push the garage icon. Haven't bothered to try a reset to fix since the next update will be rolling out quickly.

This happened to me once a few updates ago. I just did a full reset and poof. It has worked flawlessly since.

Same. Just did a soft reset -- which is something I haven't done since owning the car for well over a year. That seemed to fix it too. I have also noticed a weird issue with Apple Music where suddenly songs would play part way and get stuck with the timeline going to 0:00 --- 0:00 for the song. Signing out and signing back in would fix it, but it would come back. Maybe the reset will fix both problems. This last update certainly left ghosts in the machine.

Mine on my 2026 dual max R1S works fine though it’s possible I missed it from time to time as I don’t park in the garage. It’s there mostly if I want to enter through the garage.

I had random problems with geolocation involving both the Auto Unlock and garage door functions. Problem was caused by Google Maps placement of my home. I edited the icon in Google Maps and moved it to be on top of my garage. All problems disappeared after that.

Mine is definitely not a geolocation issue as when I cycle the garage-home function, it immediately displays the steering wheel option to open my garage. I'm going to try a soft-reset and see if the problem returns.

Does your R1T show you at “home” when your parked or another address real close to you. Mine was showing a numerical address that was just a few numbers away from my home. That’s how I knew it was A Google Maps issue. It was inconsistent in recognizing I was “home“. Good luck with the troubleshooting.

Mine says I'm at home. Also properly stays unlocked.
