Did they at least agree the system sounds like potatoes?
I got a partial admission, but it took some effort. Unclear if it’s part of their training or they just don’t see a lot of Gen2s.

Initial listening thoughts.. midrange muddiness is very slightly improved. Slightly crispier sounding. The vocals on the new Coldplay and Rufus du Sol album sound better than before. The bass is kicking though. Holy cow. Not many changes to the curve over here…

Not a sea change but happy with the (very) incremental updates.

3D surround makes a noticeable difference in the upper frequencies. I made an attempt with the .39 release (while waiting for my baby to wake up in the backseat.) there's a large peak near 500 that I couldn't totally get rid of, that's why everything else is so high. I'm doing a test listen now. I may still adjust the highest and lowest frequencies.

What is the reason to do Low or Off for Dynamic Sound Adjustment?

Is anybody still experience no internet connectivity with Apple Music? I can get music to play when connected to a hotspot created by my phone but not when it’s connected to the vehicles AT&T network. I tried infotainment and CPU resets also.

I had to turn the bass down some on my prior eq settings after this new update. Center front channel was cracking a fair amount at about volume 22 playing Tiesto the business.

I looked at mine with the new update. This time I used a Windows PC (Friture app) with my Blue Yeti microphone and also compared to the Sound Analyzer android app you posted previously. I still used some Pink Noise audio test files in Spotify. My settings are very similar to yours with a reduction at 250, a big reduction at 500, and increases on all the higher frequencies. I do not increase the lower end at 63 and 125 like you did. The primary reason is that in certain bass heavy songs the higher bass tends to vibrate and clip my speakers depending on the volume. I also noticed is that in the Friture app it defaults to no Frequency Weightings as compared to the Sound Equalizer app that defaults to A-Weighting. Using A-Weighting significantly cuts off the lower frequencies (https://www.noisemeters.com/help/faq/frequency-weighting/) so you are trying to boost something that the measurement app is minimizing. The equivalent to No Weighting in the Friture app to the Sound Analyzer app is setting it to Z-Weighting. I think if you try Z-Weighting you will get different EQ settings, especially on the low end. However, not being an expert, I don't know which one of these Frequency Weightings we should be using.

Curious to "hear" what you find.... :)

I'm not sure what that does yet. But (as I think about it now) my guess at what it does means it should probably be off during the calculation, but you could turn it on while driving based on personal preferences.

Sorry to be late to the party, but I just had to post after taking delivery of my 2nd generation to R1S yesterday. Previously, I had a generation one R1T with the Meridian audio that I sold back two months back right before I sold my R1 T I had downloaded the Apple Music and was blown away by the sound quality in Dolby Atmos. However, I was aware that the non-Atmos track sounded off, especially with regards to volume inconsistency’s. Fast forward to yesterday taking delivery of my generation two R1 S with premium audio and I’m beyond disappointed with how the stereo sounds, but I do have hope! because I think I have identified that it is an issue squarely with the Apple Music app versus being a quality issue with the non-Meridian audio system. Like you all have mentioned the sound is extremely hollow and doesn’t even come close to sounding like a premium audio system in a vehicle. I noticed tonight while playing a song that I play on repeat that they were parts of the song that were missing. I thought I was going crazy until I decided to play the same song on the Apple Music app connected through Bluetooth, which didn’t sound great, but the missing channels were there. I went back to listening on the native system and there it was clearly this is an issue with the app. I hope Rivian is listening to everyone here as the vehicle is exceptional but this audio experience is far from that. I’m confident that they will get this resolved.

Ps as much as I played with the EQ, I don’t believe the problems can be solved until Rivian addresses the issue.

I just disabled atmos in the Apple settings and it is a world of difference. I think the nines are there.

Yeah the atmos tracks are incredibly variable. Better to turn it off. The good atmos tracks do sound great though. Earth Wind and Fire’s September sound phenomenal.

I also downloaded Tidal and started a free trial to see if there is any difference. There isn’t. Bad atmos tracks still sound bad. Much fewer atmos tracks available on Tidal vs Apple.

I’ve also noticed my fade/balance keeps resetting itself every time I get into the car. The sound I feel is getting worse again but I’ve kinda given up on this

Agreed on the inconsistency of Atmos tracks for quality, with some sounding good, and some sounding a lot worse than the stereo mixes, which should not be happening. For what it's worth, Hamilton (Original Broadway soundtrack - explicit lyrics) sounds GREAT once you've got your curves dialed in.

I’ve actually turned off Spatial Audio in the Gen 1 Meridian sound system, because with the new 311 album the lead singer’s voice sounds like it coming out of the dash and nowhere else on a few songs. Non-spatial audio version sounds great! I wish I had turned off Spatial Audio when I sat in a Gen 2 to see if that fixed anything. Guess I’ll see if the next update fixes anything. Would like to upgrade, but sound is holding me back.

Thank you, my Gen 2 Premium sounds much better with these settings , hope future updates can take it closer to a really "premium" audio experience

Thank you for posting and the help. This literally saved my sanity as the sound was so bad in my Gen 2 with Premium Audio. I had to turn off all “Spatial Audio” = Dolby Atmos in Apple Music as some were very good and some very very bad. Terrible ones were older songs (REM Man on the Moon, GnR Sweet Child of Mine).
Sound was drastically improved with these settings and I bumped the 500 down a little more.

You’re welcome! I have also found the atmos sound is so variable I shut it off now.
