Gen1 Software Instability? (2024.43.1)

After this update, my Gen1 no longer shows power (blue) and Regen (green) indicator graphics on the 4 wheels in the Drivetrain app. Anyone else seeing this?

Yes I had this and an infotainment reset resolved it for me.

I had to unlink and re-link my phone in order to get the remote camera view to work.

I have also noticed that ABRP fails to record some of my drives suggesting that there might be some instability in the 3rd party interface.

Hey everyone, I've noticed some increased instability after updating to 2024.43.1 and I just wanted to check if others have experienced an increase in instability as well.

I've got a 2023 Gen1 R1T.

Things I've noticed:

1. Infotainment hard crash while driving (screens go black, only speedometer visible for a minute or two)
2. Apple Music claims it's playing music, but there's no sound coming out of the speakers. Infotainment reset fixes it.
3. Dashboard visualizations lag heavily when the Camera app is open

haven't had any problems with it...i usually do a infotainment reset after every update

Add me to the Screens crashing and restarting after 30 seconds or so.

I haven't been able to connect to the gear guard cameras remotely for weeks either.

Infotainment reset.
That was my situation after initial install, but after an infotainment reset, it's all back.


I am having the opposite experience as OP. This update has fixed ALL of my bugs and complaints. I was having proximity lock issues, garage door opener issues, and some other abnormalities. All gone.

Screen switching (and changing night/day mode) is MUCH improved. Vehicle responsiveness overall is much improved (to PAAK, proximity lock/unlock, and controlling heat and opening the frunk from the widget).

I do not use Apple Music, so I cannot comment on that.

I HAD MY MIRROS LT AND RT CHANGE POSITION WHILE DRIVING AND COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO RESET THEM WHILE ON A FREEWAY.

Maybe a full reset instead of just infotainment.

I haven't had issues or needed a reset on the new update (Gen1) so count one for it's been ok.

Just installed last night and yes, count me in on experiencing several instabilities (i.e. all screens blacked out while driving today, laggy screen). It boggles my mind that a reset still isn't inherent in a software update.

I had the same experience of all screens going black while exiting the freeway this evening. I was really concerned that I had lost power and was going to be rear ended but as I reached the top of the off ramp the vehicle rebooted the screens without any input from me and I never lost power from the motors. I immediately pushed the SOS button and reached a Rivian technician while completing my 4 mile drive home where I was directed to do a soft reset. Random loss of all screens has not recurred on a limited test drive after my soft reset but if it does the car is not going to be driven til Rivian addresses this critical flaw. If anyone has not updated at this point you may want to wait til this bug is corrected.

Both my displays went dark 2x this morning within minutes (only speedometer display was on), but self recovered after a few seconds. I had not installed the update yet, but it had already downloaded. When I arrived, I did a soft reset and installed the update. So far no issues. This is the first time the system crashed, so I believe if it was it related to the update, but I can't be sure.

I also had the screens go black including the speedometer screen while driving after the update. The system self rebooted after a few seconds....not a good feeling in the dark exiting the freeway.

Electrafi states Software version 2024.47.0 was just installed on a 2025 Rivian Model R1S Quad in Illinois. Perhaps a fix is coming soon.

Similar story like OP for me 2024 Dual Large R1T picked up late Aug 24

• Screens going black and essentially rebooting while in Highway Assist at 70 mph. Highway Assist Malfunction and then screens rebooted.
• Lot of sluggishness on the screens
• Locking and unlocking ? issues with the phone and keycard

If this happens again hit your SOS button to create a time stamp that may help figure out what is causing this software issue. I had my vehicle is for a tire rotation and they reviewed the data on the car but did not identify the software issue. I have had no further problems and although the screens went black the car remained operable to get off the road and reboot in my garage.

I had this happen, and a hard reboot fixed it. The only other issue I've seen (Gen 1 R1S) is that the gear guard doesn't really work anymore. It's been stuck processing a video since it was updated. No form of reboot has helped.
