Halloween Mode NOT WORKING?

Tried it - didn't help. Updated app two days ago. Got vehicle update yesterday, downloaded, installed. Doesn't work. Wife updated her app, rebooted both iPhones, neither phone get it work.

1. Soft reset vehicle - nothing
2. Hard reset vehicle - nothing
3. Went for a drive, parked - nothing
4. Deleted app off iPhone, rebooted iPhone, re-downloaded app, re-paired to vehicle - nothing

While this is not the first issue we've had with the vehicle in our 13 months of ownership, it is the first OTA update we've had an issue with.

Unrelated but why can't we keep these themes as options to use later? I wouldn't mind still having last year's available. I get if there was a licensing cost, but all the trouble of making and then disappear seems like a waste.

Dang, I was hoping it would work for others. Rivian in any case has dropped the ball!

Finally got this to work after restarting and completely closing the app on my phone a couple times. But then it got stuck on! Once I started the vehicle it finally stopped. I got the red cloud with the line through it on the app right after. Which started right after the big AWS outage on Monday. Maybe still some issues from that? Once it’s running it’s very cool! I hope it works other places besides on WiFi at home? It says connect to WiFi for better experience?

Same - tried everything and nothing works. Hard reset, soft reset, delete app, add app, restart phone, WiFi, LTE. I’m on 2025.38.0 and on latest app.

Just did a hard reset on the vehicle and now we’re up and running. At least I think… it seems to only do “stuff” on the inside. For Gen1 I thought that we’d get exterior lights and sounds still, or no? When I switched through the different exterior options, the front light bar would send a green light from left to right and that would be it. Meanwhile, I can hear the interior bumping some “spooky” music. I dunno. Overall, I feel like last year’s BTTF and Knight Rider costumes were cooler. Maybe that was just the nostalgia factor.

Make sure your foot isn’t on the brake, it won’t work if it is. I tend to always have my foot on the brake in a parked car so it took me a while to figure out why it wasn’t working.

I have a Gen 1 R1T, also didn’t work after the update.. I did a soft reset and it worked about 10 minutes later. Give it a try!

Halloween mode shows up in the app, but it does nothing once enabled. Last year, I had no issues with the Halloween mode. This year, it’s nothing. The only thing that seems to work is the frog croak when locking, whether or not Halloween is enabled. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the iPhone app, and done a soft reset on the car. Still won’t work. On or off WiFi doesn’t matter. And yes I’ve been completely parked each time.

I have a 2026 Gen2 and haven’t received my update yet either.

I haven’t even gotten the upgrade yet and here it is 26th. Last year had a problem because they wouldn’t upgrade until I had car serviced for a 12v battery issue. Also paying extra connect+ and don’t see how that gets you any upgrades any earlier. Hey Rivian how about testing Halloween mode when the stores start coming out with Halloween stuff in July so you can give it to your customers to enjoy the cool things about Rivian instead of marketing and putting in shows just to buy your product that seems to always come up short of expectations.

Update: both app and Gen2 R1T received both updates Thursday night. My account on iOS app has no get spooky. My account on android app has no get spooky. Just created a new account for my wife and she has get spooky in the app.

I (the primary account) still had nothing.

deleted iOS app. Restarted phone. Installed iOS app. Logged in as my wife on my phone. Had got spooky card. Logged out of wife’s account. Logged in under my account (on my device).

I now have the get spooky card.

hope this bizarre workaround helps someone else.

It doesn’t work worth squat on my gen2. I’ve done all the restarts of the app and R1S. No dice.

I tried Halloween mode in my Gen 1 R1S for first time today, interior only and it worked well. No WiFi, via Conn+ only since I wasn’t home. The only problem was the initial volume was loud as hell.

Reset, new app, all the updates… shows up within the App but nothing happens when we press it to turn on.

Tried again and got it to work by entering Park with foot on brake then into drive then back into park with NO FOOT ON BRAKE.
Now it works.
