I don’t know how anyone objectively reads this thread and comes to the conclusion that the original post is the childish and entitled one here.
I said i like their festive themes and hope they do more of them. I just hope they’re more like last year.

Some of the responses it triggered are downright ridiculous.
If there is ever a thread to show first world whining and being triggerd, it is the OP. You have to be a huge f’en loser to whine about something like this , especially that you have the ability to turn off.

You are treating Rivian like a god, and act like if we don't shower them in praises then they'll spite us by cursing us with a 7 year drought... Well, I hope your god is receptive to criticism from people other than the most devout, and apologists.

To directly answer your question, no, I'm thankful to all of my gift givers. To call Halloween Mode a "gift" is hilariously idolizing . It's a gimmick. With dissonant design.

Pointing out the dissonance and asking for avoidance or change in the future is not only reasonable, but hopefully preferred by Rivian. If it causes them to divert resources to other features, that's something I'd actually welcome.
Rivian doesn't need to do it. It's not idolizing to know what words mean. The holiday mode thing is a little gift, it's something fun to show Rivian appreciates their customers. Something better known as a GIFT. You have no basis to say I idolize Rivian, in fact the mere accusation is just a pathetic attempt to distract from the discussion of your entitlement.

You're taking something Rivian wasn't obligated to give you and pissing and moaning about it even though it doesn't really make your truck any different than if you just never turned it on. There was absolutely no reason for this whiny bullshit and I hope Rivian figures out a way to just not update certain people's vehicles so they can skip you the trauma of an organ sound in the future.

You're obviously not grateful to all your gift givers because your whining here is in direct contrast to your stated behavior. I tend to believe someone's actions much more than their words and your actions are to complain about something above and beyond your truck experience in what was delivered or even promised. It was supposed to be something lighthearted and fun, not even worth criticizing.

Plus you obviously know little to nothing about managing staff. Allowing your programming staff to get a little creative and have fun with their work is good for productivity and good for team cohesion. You know what ruins that though, when someone takes these things that are supposed to be fun and positive and dissects them just because they have so little to whine about in their lives. I'm really glad things have worked out that well for you that you think whining about a free mode is somehow noble or welcome.

No one is saying Rivian is beyond criticism. What we are saying is whining about a limited time mode designed just to be fun is whiny and fucking stupid. If you want criticize an update meant to stay with the truck, and the criticism is valid, fine go ahead. What's the purpose of whining about something that doesn't change the operation of your truck in any significant way, is completely optional and around for an extremely limited time.

Bitching about things like that just show that you like to whine. It's annoying, do better.

Halloween Sounds are Off-Brand
Calling it off-brand sounds like you believe you know better than Rivian as to what the Rivian branding message is, yet this was officially released by Rivian and no doubt approved at fairly high levels, if not RJ himself.

So you know the brand intent better than RJ and company? ? I don't think so. Does Rivian have to include a disclaimer in their branding that says "we reserve the right to have some fun with our own brand message" ?

If it’s a “Halloween” mode, then the brand is Halloween, not Rivian. I didn’t have my truck yet, but I thought the owl, wolf were great and I also love the organ.

I stand there to watch my garage door go all the way down so I can hear it just before it closes. Makes me laugh every time. Yesterday at the grocery store it scared the hell out of a family loading groceries into their car next to mine as I was walking towards the store :CWL: (They started laughing afterwards.)

It’s just something fun Rivian did for Halloween. That’s it. Don’t overthink it.

I love the sounds, but that doesn't mean that everyone else has to feel the same way. I also think that the pumpkin rolling out of the cab when you open the door is really clever, but You don't have to agree.

As for branding, I'm not big on that. I bought a R1T because it's zero to 60 is 3.1, not for it's off road chops.

Everyone bought a Rivian for their own reason. Can't we all just enjoy what we have for our own reasons?

Yes, I've had a few so I'm more mellow than normal.

I love that Rivian does a Halloween theme, and even wish they would do more special events.

While I love the zombies, pumpkins, and witches… they did so much better with last year’s sounds. The owl and the wolf were both on brand and matches the Sounds of Rivian design practice.

I hope they do more special events, and I hope they better follow their design philosophy with future ones—like they did last year.
for the record I love it.
Its playful and fun.

My kids and everyone I have shown it too think it is charming and fun.

I wouldn't worry too much, next Halloween mode is going to be available for à la carte pricing, and so you certainly don't have to pay for it.

Geez, you're acting like I'm spitting in Rivian's face, throwing a tantrum, and threatening to disown them.

I'm agreeing with some FEEDBACK. "Thanks Rivian, but the organ's a bit obnoxious. Maybe go with something more subtle next time around, or let us disable the sound specifically".
It is possible to disable the sound specifically. As I wrote here https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/sneak-peek-of-halloween-mode-2023.20228/post-419287
Turn Halloween mode on and go into Settings > Vehicle > Access and turn off Lock sound (exterior). You no longer get any sound when locking, but you can check the lock status visually from a distance by looking at the app. Just remember to turn the Lock sound (exterior) back on when not in Halloween mode to restore the double chirp at lock confirmation sound.
