About 6-8 weeks ago it was a wet snowy day and my truck randomly had all the dash lights come on. Went into turtle mode. No cruise etc…
I called Rivian and did a hard reset and nothing changed. They got me a rental and scheduled a tow. Later that day on my way home from work it cleared out and was fine so I canceled the service and tow.
I’ve since noticed, every time it rains or snows this happens. I live in Idaho and it’s dry so it’s only been 3 or 4 times total but every time it’s happened it has also been a wet day (maybe a coincidence but don’t think so)
I’ve got a new ticket in again to have this checked out since it keeps happening.
Anyone ever experience anything like this?
once the rain stops and it drys out, normally a few hours after the rain stops, the dash lights go off and everything is back to normal.

Have you tried to induce this? Ie place your R1 next to a sprinkler or similar (try the front wheel wells based off your warning lights) - I’ve never heard of this but being able to repro would probably go a long way toward getting Rivian to be able to help get you fixed up.

I have not, it’s been so random, only when it rains which is not often. Annoys me, then drys out and I forget about it until it rains again.
today it rained and I finally made a note to get a service requested so I didn’t forget when it went back to normal.
that’s a good idea though. I’m fairly convinced it’s moisture related. It’ll go weeks with no issues. Then it rains and pops up.

This exact thing happened to me a couple weeks ago following a heavy snow fall and a bitterly cold night. My 2nd Gen R1T is garage parked and plugged in when at home. Went to run to the local DPW yard to get a bucket of road salt for the driveway. The ONLY thing I did that morning was put the truck in SNOW mode. Got the the DPW lot. Checked in, and when I came out to move over to the salt shed, I got all those warning lights, no power steering and the truck went into turtle mode. I had to move the truck (it was blocking a DPW garage door), managed to wrangle across the open lot to the salt shed, got the salt, then moved it again to an open area where I did a hard reset. I did get a message that an error log was generated as the truck powered down. In my case, when the truck came back up, everything was working fine.

I opened up a problem ticket and pointed them to the error log. They scheduled an appointment for me late next month, and I have not heard anything more on the issue.

Same issue when driving on the freeway and on dirt roads in the snow. 2024 R1T was in low mode since driving highway speeds and would t adjust to standard. Had the same issue when driving in snow mode in high after a big snowfall. Got stuck in high and was throwing errors for auto high beams, and saying I needed to service air suspension. Took to service center, but since they couldn’t replicate they said they couldn’t do anything. Appears to be a known issue in colder temps when any water / snow gets into sensors. Wish they would just fix it since this vehicle should be able to handle snow and cold temps.

I was getting different errors every time , but captured diagnostics so they have the data. Was really hoping cold snap would address this know issue.

I had a similar issue almost instantly when driving on sand in in all terrain mode (I don't have sand mode). It took a bunch of resets to clear and totally fine on pavement since.

I have no idea what is causing your problem, but from your description sounds like the wet (moisture) is shorting something out somewhere. Possibly a ground. That would explain why once things are dry, everything goes back to normal. The suggestion to wet it down is a good idea to try to cause the problem.

As explained to me, the root cause is wheel slippage. And perhaps (in my case) this is why they have a sand mode. That said, there's no way turtle mode is acceptable in these scenarios. Perhaps service will see an anomaly in the log data. Until I read this thread, I had dismissed the issue completely.
