With winter weather and seeing a few R1T/R1S being stuck, I’m building a recovery kit. For the rear hitch I have a D ring receiver.

Any recommendations for what length pin is required to mount? Bonus if it’s lockable.

Haven't measured it, but if you get a pin for a class V hitch it will work.

Some of these locking pins appear to be quite long. I’ll crawl under and measure the recessed area to see what might work in the confined space.

Can anyone confirm if this locking pin fits the Rivian hitch? This thing looks pretty heavy duty, but it says 3 1/8" span which looks like it would be tight.

Funny. I'm on the same hunt - after realizing my old locking pin was too short for my camper.

Crashmtb is correct that Factor 55 makes a non-locking pin that is included in the Rivian recovery kit (thank you for getting me to check); however, it appears to be custom made for Rivian - including "Rivian" etched on the knob. It measures approximately 3.8" from the knob edge to the center of the cotter pin hole. It is longer than is required (by about a half inch). See picture.

I would guess 3 1/8" is probably too tight to fit the cotter pin all the way through, but I don't really know.

Forget the comment about the cotter pin as it is a locking pin, but if it is really only 3 1/8" width, I think it would be too short.

FWIW- I measured the outside dimension of the R1T receiver with a caliper- it's 3.41", so a 3 1/8" pin definitely would not work. You need a 5/8" X 3.5" pin...

The off road recovery people say the only way to remove a lockable hitch pin that is exposed to the elements is to cut it off. I got my non lockable pin from Factor 55 (12 cm), and my other recovery gear from Yankum.

I guess I'm missing something?

I measured the receiver outside dimension this afternoon with a digital caliper- it is 3.41" wide.
The factor 55 hitch pins advertise a span of 3 1/8" or 3.125".

How does a hitch pin with a span of 3.125" lock in a receiver that's 3.41" wide?

I have a locking hitch pin with a 3.5" span and I use one O-ring to stop it from rattling, but one O-ring is all that will fit between the receiver outside wall and a 3.5" span hitch pin because the receiver is 3.41" wide.
