Anyone having issues recently with their home Charger not charging? I get about 5kw and then an error message. This has occurred intermittently for a couple weeks but more often than not in the last day or so. Troubleshooting steps taken:

1. Reset the vehicle 3 different occasions
2. Reset the breaker connected to the charger on two different occasions.
3. Throttled the amperage down on the truck from 48 down to 30.

Truck software updated to 2022.2.3 about a week ago but didn't improve error frequency.

Charger software v03.01.49

No luck on any of the above changes. Next step is to look at faulty breaker possibility, buy figured I'd check to see if anyone has already resolved or experiencing similar?

Thanks as always.

Did you try with a different level 2 charger to see if you get something similar? Perhaps try at a place you can plug in for an extended time to see if the same error trips.

Double check the wire and make sure it’s torqued properly on the charger. Had a similar issue and torquing the wire a bit more resolved my issue.

Mine started having a sketchy connection between truck and charger, causing arcing and heat, which messed up the high voltage connectors in the charger handle. Needed a new charger.

I hadn't. Good point, I'll try and see what happens. Thank you.

Are you referring to the charging cable coming out of the box (torque bolt to box) or the load wires being terminated correctly? In either case, I've done neither but will look at both if that's what you're referring to.

No obvious signs of arching. I'm assuming yours was obvious?

I can't find my pictures, but it was pretty clear. The connectors in the two 120v charger end were deteriorated.

I also figured out if I held it in one direction, putting pressure on handle, it would work without fault. But if I let it move around even a little, it would fault right away (and make a little arcing sound).

No I am referring to the electrical cable that comes from the breaker panel into your charger. Make sure the 3 terminals are torqued properly in your charger.

Update: Cables and connections all checked out good. Issue appears to reside at the connection point (handle) between truck port and charger. Seems like there is some sag now which is impacting how the handle mates with the charging port. If I pull the handle up slightly, I can re-engage the connection correctly. Albeit, definitely hear the arching prior to that. So a very similar situation to R1Tom.

Engaged SC and will let you know of the outcome. Has been flawless charging for the past 11mos otherwise.

Just to close out the topic. Solution from Rivian was to replace the whole charger. Everything has worked seamless since replacement. I do envision the weight on the handle deteriorating over time again, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. First one lasted just shy of a year.

When you plug it in do you just slip it in without holding down the release button? I’ve been told not to do this. (Hot plugging) I was told by electrician, and also said in chargers manual not to do this as could damage charger or car.

supposed to hold the release button until fully plugged in, and until it’s fully disconnected and out of the vehicle.

Based on my understanding of the J1772 spec and the Proximity Pilot, this is not necessary when plugging in.

I think I do both, but mostly wait for the click when I plug it in. I think it's the weight on the cable that causes the disconnect at the handle over time. But I'll be more cognizant of hot plugging going forward. Thanks.

Could be right. I just know that if I don’t hold that button on my charger nozzle it starts to error out and I have to unplug and replug the charger from the 220 plug
