The first pic is speed test on my phone. The second pic is speed test on my laptop connected to Rivian hotspot. Is this normal?

Yeah I understand that. But 4G at 2 Mbps download speed? 4G averages between 5-100 Mbps. 2 Mbps seems super slow.

Just tried connecting to hotspot using iPhone. 1.61 Mbps. 4G shouldn’t be THAT slow.

Connected at 5 GHz, full cellular bars in the vehicle. I had tidal paused during this, but it may have still been caching data in the background.

Something’s off. Both my kids stream off the hotspot all the time without issue.

I brought this up many times and I’ve taken it to the service center and they told me everything was normal for 4G.
Their default method is to reboot the system, which doesn’t do anything

I just tested again and got 41 Mbps
Maybe it was the area?

I thought Rivian hotspot was ATT. Why does it say Verizon and Google Fiber in the bottom left corner? Verizon is my iPhone service provider but I’m connected to Rivian hotspot when I ran this test.

It is AT&T. Verizon in your screenshot is the server you are testing against. Speedtest.net thinks you are using Google Fiber as your ISP based on your public IP address.

So the earth picture is the server it’s testing against so that’s why it changes depending on location or time.

The person picture is IP address? But I’ve seen that change even when I’m on the same network at home. Strange.

Yep. As for the public IP, most providers only provide a static IP if you pay for it. Otherwise the IP changes, the frequency at which it changes is up to the ISP.

You are comparing ATT 4G to Verizon 5G, not exactly apples to apples. I've tested this around town and I get between 5 and 50 download, depending on the signal strength. Try different areas, towers, coverages and see what you get.

Do we have the ability to use phone tethering but get all the Connect+ stuff if we are a Connect+ subscriber? I think the answer is no but I'd have to go back through the forum to confirm.

This unfortunate because the hotspot is cool for when I'm in a bad T-Mobile area but a good ATT area so I like having that option but most of my area is fantastic 5G.
