Just had a set of new wheels mounted @Discount Tire .
I told them I had brand new jack pucks in the rear if needed(previous time they used their own.) I noticed from a distance the Jack pucks they were using looked different and that one of the jacks looked to be tilted. They told me it was fine…
When they lowered it down I noticed they didn’t have to reinstall the caps for the pucks at which point I realized they jacked it up in the wrong location. The plastic panels are all warped and no longer sit flush with the bottom, but my main concern(without removing the panels) is could there be damage to anything else underneath those panels? They told me a manager would reach out to me shortly. I don’t want to remove the panels until he looks at it, would just be nice to hear there is no potential for other damage.
Thanks!

I know America's Tire and Discount are the same (at least in California). They are the only ones I will go to. Before I took the R1T in, I called and asked them:

1. Can they rotate the tires on the Rivian R1T?
2. Do they have the correct pucks to do it?.

They assured me that they could rotate Rivian tires and they had the pucks. I also have the full spare tire, jack, and pucks...I offered the pucks to use, but they said they had them.

Been there 2 times for rotation. They told me that the tires are in great shape for 19k miles on them.

Sorry to this happened to you, but thank you for sharing your experience.

I was about to schedule a new set of tire with Discount Tire, but I need to rethink that now.

I'd suggest folks get a wax pencil and clearly label the jack points. I did this after installing my @DCE sliders to make it clear to the Rivian SC that the jack points are unobstructed and available.
The Americas Tire (Discount tire), in Bakersfield Cal. is great because they have trained and give a dam. Before I let them touch the R1T, I spoke very clearly to the service Mgr. I showed him my pucks and so forth. As well I discussed the 48 PSI cold setting. He assured me they were on top of the Rivian needs, and they were.
My point is, not all shops are the same, but just the same, speak to the service Mgr. first get his name and look him in the eyes when you are pleasantly thanking him for his attention. Same goes for "her".

@Discount Tire is going to have to send out a "adjuster" to look at the damage....

I'm happy to hear from you guys that it's likely only cosmetic, but I still expect them to replace the panels as they are no longer flat under the vehicle. I hate to be "that guy" complaining about stuff like this, but I have a shop myself(unfortunately without a tire machine) and if one of my guys pulled off something like this on a customers vehicle I would raise hell. The sad thing is it was more than one guy jacking the vehicle up....

If they decide to dismiss my concerns, is there an online source for OEM Rivian parts? I'm used to Jeeps etc where I can just call up my local wholesalers and get any parts I need.

Thanks everyone!
Take the cash settlement and buy Rock Sliders ;)

Are we sure this is the site sponsor Discount Tire and not the imposter Discount Tire that someone else went to and damaged their Rivian?

The claims department is requesting I go to a service center to get a quote for the repairs. I told the person I spoke to I just want new panels that I can install myself. I don't want anyone else touching my vehicle and I don't want to take time off work for a needless estimate when all I need are the four panels.

Having just got off the phone with Rivian I was informed they will not sell replacement parts to individuals which is a huge let down going forward with ownership.

Your thread made me think to go outside and check my truck, because I just had a Discount Tire in San Antonio rotate my tires. Sure enough they did the same to mine:

The panels are even popped out a little bit from (I'm assuming) flexing when they put the jack in there.

I haven't been the most confident in this store, but thought I'd give them another chance. The first rotation they took over an hour longer than they quoted, and then never updated the text message thing or notified me so I sat there for an extra hour waiting on top of that. When I couldn't see the truck in the bay the guy joked it must have been stolen, but by that point I wasn't in the best mood haha.

I probably should've left when I noticed they were trying to jack the truck up while it was in kneel mode, and I really should've when they tried to change the wipers without activating that as well. @Discount Tire I thought y'all did training with Rivian or something? I get that its a truck, but I rather be the one who puts the dents and scratches on it instead of paying someone to do it.

Unfortunately that is true so far. You might be able to find some panels from a salvaged Rivian.

I was able to buy a full set of replacement side panels from my service center a while back. People on phone support didn't really want to work with me on it though so I think that's likely still the case.

We apologize for your recent experience. We would like to look further in to this to make sure you're taken care of. Hope you don't mind us sending a DM.

It's not so much the panels, but I rarely let anyone touch my vehicles unless absolutely necessary(Software updates/tires etc).
I even go to extremes of fixing my own vehicles under warranty so the dealer doesn't touch it.

I'm really deflated by this as I absolutely love the truck, but not being able to buy my own parts may be a deal breaker.

I may be too new to the forum to PM you, but would you mind sending me this in higher quality(not sure if it compressed via the forum)? I'm curious if that is enough for them to reimburse me for the parts.
If not, I understand and thanks for the input.

I do get it. There are so many differences with these vehicles that it's an adjustment for sure.

I believe they will eventually sell parts to the public - for the first couple years they were dealing with COVID parts/ supply shortages so there literally wasn't enough to go around, with spare tires even getting removed from our orders.

Then came setting up body shops to do work on Rivians and that seemed to be a struggle as well, causing long delays if your truck needed that kind of work done. It seems like they are just barely getting to the point where all of that has cleared up. I have no inside info but I bet they start offering that at some point...

Discount tire has been my goto place for over 20 years because they are careful with vehicles, take time to hand torque the lug nuts and most importantly they take ownership when they mess up. I have only had one time where they messed up and they replaced every wheel on my car without question and apologized many times. I can't ask for better service than that. I am sure they will pay to have the panels replaced.
