How do you enabled Gear Guard for the first time?

Picked up my R1T this past Friday. So far figuring out the UI pretty easily. One dumb question - how do you set up Gear Guard? I'd like it to do the basics like record people drooling on my new truck. ?


Manual says "to enable recording, choose Vehicle from the menu and turn on Gear Guard video."

When I click on the Gear Guard icon in the UI, it says "Set up Gear Guard video in your Vehicle App":

But when I click on "Take me there" it just takes me to this screen. No obvious place to click to enable functionality:

What am I missing? ?

@Oldsmobile_Mike Go to the access section of that screen (the top option with the hood open) and you'll see it on the right.

It is one of the annoying parts of the UI. Gear Guard often resets to being OFF after a Software update and I always think clicking on the Gear Guard Menu is the obvious place to turn it on and off - but it's the 1st on the list of the vehicle panel where the trunk is open as mentioned above.

You're in the "Gear Guard" section, which only shows recordings. You need to press the Vehicle icon and it'll be on the right. It's a pretty dumb UX.

Thanks guys. It was right where you said it would be. Thought that icon was just for opening the frunk or whatever. Didn't even think to click it. Pic for anybody else who comes after me and also has this problem. ?

I activated mine and it's been saving videos. But for some reason none of the videos actually play.

For what it's worth, I reset the displays (both outside buttons on the wheel) and the GG videos play in the truck now.

That was 100% going to be my recommendation... since I had the same issue last week and that fixed it.

Swipe up from anywhere in the center of the bottom bar.

Latest update changed the bottom bar to a "swipe up" to access more features. It's a big improvement but may not have made it into the manual yet. You can also customize which icons appear constantly across the bottom. If you use Gear Guard a lot, you can pin it down there.
