We are getting ready for a road trip and I want to leave my house at 10am with 100% charge. In general, I charge midnight-6am (super off-peak).
1. Is there any way in the Riv (or Emporia wall charger) app or on the truck to set it so that charging ends with 100% when we are ready to leave home?
2. Does it matter if the truck sits at 100% for half a day or so?

Thanks

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I try to set the amperage draw (times 240, times time) to roughly match to my departure time. That said, this is silly, because the batteries will be just fine if you charge up to 100% and leave it there a few hours.

Cell degradation becomes an issue at high SOC + high temperatures + time. So as long as you're not letting the batteries soak at 100 degrees or more for extended periods of time while at 100% SOC, you're fine.

1. Not currently available, which is dumb since plenty of other less advanced EVs do it. So you have to do maths
2. Try to limit to 6 hours or less, but as stated above, keep temps lower and you're fine.

My home charger charges at 24/miles per hour. I just figure out how many miles I need in order to to get to 100% and divide by 24. I then set the charger to charge to 100% a couple of hrs. before I intend to leave. Example: I plan to leave at 9:00 am - my truck range is 325 miles. If the current SOC is 100 miles then I need to add 225 miles - that takes between 9-10 hours. I will set the charger to start charging at 10:00 pm and it will be at 100% sometime between 7:00 & 8:00 am - ready to roll at 9:00. Note: I always round up.
If the power goes out, then I go to plan "B"!

Not currently a way to do it automatically but you can spoof it.

Leaving the battery at 100% for a couple of hours is no big deal.

Figure how many miles you need and how much time you have then adjust the amps in the vehicle or the charger to charge slower to meet that time. For instance if you need 120 miles to get to 100%, want to leave at 10 am, start charging the vehicle at 10 PM at 10 miles an hour (about 20 amps).

Whenever I've had to charge to 100, I just set the limit to 95, and then 45 min prior to departure (just set an alarm or reminder) slide it in the app to 100. That gets the car to 100% right at the time of departure, minimizing time at 100%. And if you forget, 95% is close to full anyways.
