Assembly:

Windnoise:
Advantages:
Provide feedback/product review on an Inno cargo basket using factory Rivian cross bars.
Model Info:
- Inno cargo basket
- INT578BK
- Aerorack Shaper 80
Personal Goal:
My goal was to find an economical roof basket that still allowed me to park my car in the garage at standard height.
I also wanted to utilize the factory cross bar T-slots. I had a basket that had clamps before and was not a fan.
Cost:
I purchased the rack from Amazon. At the time, it was on sale at $216. Their homepage list it as $270.
Assembly:
- Instructions had clear illustrations and it was simple to put together. Inno is a Japanese brand and their instructions had illustrations that reminded me of an old manual from the 90’s.
- The extruded aluminum has a hard black coating and its edges deburred. I didn't have to file anything down during the assembly. Note, the edges can still be sharp, but they are covered by plastic end pieces.
- The cross bar are wide, but thin to keep weight down. They are installed with self taping style hardware.
Design:
- I like the round edges and also appreciate how the cross bars follow the length of the car so they is less surface area facing the wind. (I’m not an aero engineer or fluid mechanics expert so take my observation with a grain of salt)
- The supplied hardware fit perfectly into the factory T-slots. Their website detailed diagrams, so I was able to confirm before the purchase. Using the T-slots allow for a slim install without bulky clamps.
Windnoise:
- I installed the rack towards the back of my R1S. I can barely hear the wind noise from the driver seat. It’s only when I drive over 75 mph can my rear passengers heard wind noise.
- There are no whistling sounds. Instead, it sounds more like a low tone of ocean waves when driving over 75 mph; otherwise, it is very quiet and unnoticeable.
In my non-scientific method, I only noticed about 0.02-0.05 kWh hit while driving the speed limit in all-purpose mode, standard height, 20” stock Pirelli
Advantages:
- Cheap
- Slick, slim design, allowing the vehicle fit inside the garage
- Installation simplicity using T slots
- Light weight (17.4 lbs according to their website)
- Aluminum construction
- Depending on your needs, it is small. They do have a larger version, but cost a little more.
- It looks too cute compared to the size of the roof. Ha!
- It’s not able to hold that much weight. (110 lbs according to the website. Not sure if that’s static or dynamic)
- I’m really happy with the rack, as noted by the list of advantages. It’s great for light duty cargo, but limited by its size and cargo weight limitations.
- I should have purchase the INT579 Sharper 100 because it’s wider, but it wasn’t on sale. This is my temporary rack while I wait for my full roof rack to arrive and wanted to keep cost down.
- I hope this review helps the community. Feel free to ask me any questions.
