among other things, this doesnt bode well for investors. means theyre probably not going to hit 25K orders by end of 2022, unless they decide they really want to focus on ramping the T and the S they forget trying to ramp up, just trickle a few out. maybe that will help get them to 25K but doubt it now.

Investors should be less important than product.

Take this with however many grains of salt you want, but I just boarded a Chicago to LA flight and saw that one of the other passengers had a unique First Mile sweatshirt on. I was an unapologetic stalker and introduced myself as a Nov 2018 pre-order holder. She said that she works for Rivian “off and on” (not sure exactly what that means) and knew about Tony’s email when I mentioned it. She asked me whether I was a T or S preorder holder, and when I said “S”, she started sadly shaking her head. I asked if I should be prepared for a 2023 delivery (context: I was originally given a March/April 2022 window) and she said…yes.

I had my first mile today drive and my Rivian “host” has a R1S on preorder and doesn’t expect it to be ready until 2023… and that’s an employee…

Glass half full opinion: they could be a late preorder or Rivian isn't prioritizing as many employee deliveries with the R1S since it shares so much of the R1T. Others have reported they didn't do an employee purchase promotion either for the R1S. So without a discount, they may not be asking for so many beta testers.

Because if they don't deliver any until end of year (or 2023)...I'd hope some investors would rake them over the coals for delivering 2 to the C suite and no more for a year, and hyping the R1S at the shareholder call this week.

Nope, I'm staying with the S. Unless I could put a snow plow on an R1T, I'm keeping my Avalanche for plowing. I prefer having an SUV and a truck rather than two trucks.

I feel like there's been too much momentum building for the R1S to suddenly shut it down and say they aren't making any more until 2023. The increasing number of public appearances are much like we had in the months leading up to the R1T release. Even if the production mix ends up being 90% R1T and 10% R1S, that still would allow a couple thousand R1S deliveries this year. I'd even pay current prices to get my R1S delivered this year rather than next year if it came down to it.

Based on Rivian's own numbers, a 90/10 split is going to be at most 200 R1S.

Agree, let's wait for a clear indication. He could have been referring to something spcific like R1S OC orders being moved back, or maybe all R1S. You can also read this as some R1S orders will move up, except for R1S OC orders being moved back?

^^ From what I talked with CS if you didnt get anything there is something wrong with the sales force distro list you area suppose to be on, contact them and have them put in a ticket to make sure you get future communication.
