What's most annoying about this is that they know when the email is actually going to go out. I'd be shocked if it wasn't already scheduled to be sent because there is no way they would send out the Monday communication without having everything lined up. Why not just say the day that it's going to go out? It's almost like they are intentionally vague out of spite sometimes.

I think you're giving them way too much credit here. My guess: an engineer or product manager said they should have the shop done "later this week" and Tony whipped out an email Monday morning. They are growing so fast that they are still reactive and not in big company bureaucratic hell yet. I legit don't think they know what's going to happen next week.

I've done startups my whole life so I appreciate and love that phase, but, of course a 9,000 person public company has different expectations from it's customers.

I hope those are powerful telescopes. According to the Rivian calendar there are 361 days left in the week…
Rivian could have adopted the Myan calendar, which is 20 days in a week, so they still have some time to make the announcement. ?

Preach, brother. Startups are a fascinating Heaven or Hell, depending upon which side of the transaction you are on at any given point in time.

Don't except a non-answer. I ordered in August of 21. I got the delivery window email. I've also confirmed that delivery window with CS via chat. If they really don't have this information, you might be an orphaned account and you should start squawking until you get the info you need.
Roger that. Time to start SQUAWKING!!

I had my first mile today drive and my Rivian “host” has a R1S on preorder and doesn’t expect it to be ready until 2023… and that’s an employee…
At my first mile event, all of the hosts were subcontractors.

Non-answer...answer.

Still can't tell me why I am hearing of folks with MUCH LATER deposit dates are getting their trucks.

This is ponderous. Now I am told that emails are going "out" but no reference to folks getting orders filled before mine nor why I haven't been contacted yet.

The change to my configuration was based on the feedback here, on the board, as compared to working with an order designer.

This is the answer:
  • Those with the earliest delivery windows will go out first (being the updated windows). This update will be personalized to your configuration and based on what you have today. Delivery timing is based on preorder date, configuration, and delivery location. Insight will be provided once you receive that update, but the order those are sent out will vary based on that information.

Not sure if someone already got this from CS, but they stated ONLY preorder date would dictate when you were invited to the shop. I will take that with a HUGE grain of salt.

Also stated my original delivery window didn't matter (I was Max Explore 1st half 2023 originally).

As an 8/20 R1T preorder date I'm both cautiously optimistic for a s00n invite, and HIGHLY doubtful this will end up helping me.

On a tangential note, I wonder what will be the longest wait for a vehicle? 11/2018 explore R1S with a weird color combo will be delivered in...2025 at a 40k loss to Rivian :CWL:

Just to throw out another scenario - I’m a Dec 2019 R1S LE preorder. I’m supposedly a June/July delivery (although I hadn’t had any guide contact). I got the same email on Monday and interestingly my account now showed a guide (which wasn’t there Sunday and hasn’t reached out yet) ??‍♂ maybe all news won’t be bad …
?? as I’m almost the same scenario as you but no guide and I know not to ever get excited anymore with Rivian.

CS (yes, I know they aren’t well informed) said today the email should be read as some but not all R1S to 2023…

But "Soonday" is priceless! ?

Died of old age during the wait
CS (yes, I know they aren’t well informed) said today the email should be read as some but not all R1S to 2023…
Right now, pre-update, we have two groups of R1S orders: 1) 2022 windows; and 2) 2023 windows. Each group is “some” of the R1S preorder population.

So if all of group 1 is moving to 2023, it would be technically accurate to say “some” R1S preorders are moving to 2023 even if that means there will be no deliveries in 2022.

Do I think that is necessarily going to happen? No. But the Monday email will remain technically accurate if they move all R1S deliveries to next year.

I apologize if this was already asked, but do we expect the R1 Shop to include all platform options? In other words, if you currently have an R1S reserved, are they going to include available R1Ts in the Shop?

This could make it interesting. I prefer the R1T, and my wife wants the R1S. Our current reservation is for an R1S but we would definitely consider the R1T is one was available and if our wait for the R1S greater than 6 months.
