What's most annoying about this is that they know when the email is actually going to go out. I'd be shocked if it wasn't already scheduled to be sent because there is no way they would send out the Monday communication without having everything lined up. Why not just say the day that it's going to go out? It's almost like they are intentionally vague out of spite sometimes.
I think you're giving them way too much credit here. My guess: an engineer or product manager said they should have the shop done "later this week" and Tony whipped out an email Monday morning. They are growing so fast that they are still reactive and not in big company bureaucratic hell yet. I legit don't think they know what's going to happen next week.
I've done startups my whole life so I appreciate and love that phase, but, of course a 9,000 person public company has different expectations from it's customers.
