iPhone battery drain

My iPhone battery drains quickly when I use it as my Rivian key. Anyone know how to stop that and still use the phone as the key?

I haven't noticed my iPhone battery life being noticeably worse since the Rivian purchase a couple months ago. Whenever friends are concerned about battery life on an iPhone, I always suggest going to the Battery page in the Settings app. From there, you can see the top users of battery energy on your iPhone. Here's a screen grab of the current values from my phone. I think a large portion of the Safari usage is from here on RivianForums.

Didn’t notice any change since I got the R1T. Just checked my iPhone and the Rivian battery usage was only 2%

I must be doing something wrong. My Rivian app is sucking up 22% of my Iphone battery. I always keep it open so I can get notifications from the truck.

Try restating your phone. My app is usually open in the background but still only uses 2%.

My app uses very little energy as well. Not sure why you are having this issue.

Depends on the settings. If you have location services set for only when using app if you close the app key will not work. I use this setting so I can close the app to prevent vehicle from unlocking when working in the garage.

Ok if it's actually showing significant usage, that's very strange. What percentage? Mine is showing 5% for the Rivian right now, but that includes a lot of time spent in/near the vehicle which probably increases usage.

Is your vehicle close enough at home that the phone could be connecting and disconnecting a lot?

Have you tried rebooting both the car and phone?

Yes, you’re correct. I leave it set to always and keep my phone at a distance if I’m working close to the vehicle so I don’t experience any phantom unlocking. But, I also have an apple watch so I don’t miss phone notifications or calls.
