Lower center console accessory ideas - Defender style

Hi all,

I love my new R1S but have been feeling that the lower center console space could have been a bit better.

Given that we have the camp speaker and a few other things in the space, we cannot fully enclose it.

I am going to experiment with this and try to come up with a defender style center console. Photo attached.

Has anyone tried something similar before? If not, would you be interested in a 3rd party component that would make it similar looking?

I'm probably an outlier, but I'll be honest I like the empty space. I find that I put random larger things there that won't roll around or out of that space. For example, I often put take out boxes and bags there when I pick up food. I would prefer having a drawer replace the speaker though. It does not need to lock. I've seen some mock-ups, but I don't really like the look of them at the moment.

Oh I thought there would be more interest in something like this. I have always had a full console in all of my cars and hence my preference towards a different design.

I actually prefer to NOT have something like the Defender. IMHO it is a waste of space because it is very limiting for what items you can fit in it. As others have pointed out, the Rivian space allows for larger items like purses, take out containers, etc.
I will say, I did add one of the @BestEvMod(AOSK) lower console cup holder pieces. Makes it easier to organize the smaller items while still allowing large items (like to go containers) on top.

Too claustrophobic. Tbh I'd rather have a wide open center area / bench seat, with a flip-down armrest with storage/cupholders.

I like the open design, but I could see Rivian offering an option in the future like Ford, either an open center, enclosed center console, or jumpseat.

What the interior needs first is to ditch the camp speaker which 99% of people will never use and make a lockable storage drawer.
