We should also compare Rivian to companies known for good customer service, not just legacy US car manufacturers who have failed to inspire confidence in this area.
Sure but I think it still should be in the same industry. So what auto companies have good customer service?

If we take what Rivian says at face value "we are pausing shipments due to packaging issues" and they are not pausing to redesign the tonneau... how on earth does it take 5-6 weeks to make a 6" longer cardboard box and put a 3" foam sleeve in either end?

Crazy that packaging redesign taking so long. This states 5-6 weeks but it’s easily been another 4 weeks since shipments seemed to have slowed or stopped.

This seems like a very low priority. Would be surprised if I receive by end of the year.
I know everyone is disappointed about the delay. Trust me it is worth as I have had a manual tonneau cover that was broken in shipping 6 weeks ago. I cant get a response from UPS on when they are going to pay for a new one. Wait for new packaging and hopefully you will not have to wait twice like me and several others.

We got ours a few months ago. It is easy to assemble and the carrying bag is nice to have, but, is it worth $800 (when we configured it with the truck)?......not really. My wife likes the fact that it covers the bed, but if you put something in the truck bed and it slides to the back, you either have to crawl in to retrieve it or use a broom or stick to grab it. She says "This is a piece of crap, but I guess since it covers the bed, it is ok for now"

I have read and heard rumors that the electric cover is coming back and that you can retrofit it in the area that had the original retractable cover.......I wouldn't hold my breath, but I have heard about it. I am curious if that comes about, how much will it cost?

If you you compare Rivi to the liked of GM and Ford the century old companies, it's like comparing Apple to Timex because they both make digital watches, and comparing Amazon to Dallar Store they both sell cheap products.

You are seriously lapsed in timeline and have no idea what century you are living in. Amazon, Apple, Tesla, Rivi they all are IT companies just their products and services have different forms and shapes. They all go through design, implement/produce and delivery process backed by engineering. Rivi is just stumbling at every opportunities they can.

Please stop comparing Rivian to legacy automakers who were just one step away from mass distinction until Gov intervention using our tax money. With $14b ipo money what I'm saying is Rivi needs to do better than this.

Maybe I'm giving Rivi too much credit.

Wow calm down a bit. Pretty sure I do know what century I'm living in. And what has been the hardest part for Tesla and Rivian? It's not the IT stuff, it's the production stuff which is over a 100 years old going back to the model T.

So I'll just compare them to Tesla then. How are were they doing with communication and meeting deadlines and broken products (bumpers falling off, etc). About as well as Rivian is now and actually probably worse.
