thanks @electruck4x4

can you talk / show how you deal with plastic panels? Replaced with steel, like the ‘other guys’ sliders?

We encountered a lot of folks with scraped plastics in designing these. Basically, our philosophy became that if you off-road enough to necessitate sliders, the days of your rocker plastics are numbered. As such, the plastics come off and stay off.

There are some comments, pics and videos earlier in the thread that discuss what that means in terms of keeping stuff clean, since what’s down there isn’t water tight and serves to trap mud anyway.

Yep. We’re putting together the first set now and expect them to be ready early next week. I’ll post pics of the work in progress over the weekend and then the final early next week.

Sorry, @jebinc running boards are going to be a few months while we both get caught up on pre-orders and then develop the R1S sliders
Hey All,

I just wanted to check in with that update I promised. See the latest developments (including final top plate photos) on the Electruck4x4 blog, here. Also, just one more reminder that introductory pricing ends on Jan 31st.

Cheers,
Brenton & Team

Will there be introductory pricing on R1S sliders when they're available?

I received a few questions regarding the support brackets, which aren't shown in the in-progress photos on the blog. The final product (shown below on their way to powder) will include three brackets with an additional 6 x grade-8 mounting points for added stability.

It's worth noting that this photo makes the front part of the main rail look much thinner than it is. This is largely because the leading edge of the rail is angled to help deflect a head-on impact. If you look closely you can see the angled cut in the shadow. You can then gauge the actual step-down sizeby comparing the amount of material that sticks above the top plate further up the main rail.

Last but not least, weight. The uncoated weight of the sliders is currently 64.4 lbs /each. (Pretty close to the "small passenger" estimate we made at the start). Freight costs will next come to all order holders via email as we work our way through the queue.

Thanks again for your patience and support!

Are these going to be tack welded as-shown or seam welded?

No problem! They’ll be available for pickup in Phoenix if you’d prefer to save on the shipping.

The top plates have smaller seam welds, if that is what you are referring to. They are primarily supported from the bottom via the cross bars.
