I don’t think it’s sooo much better, but it’s true, the meridian system in my wife’s early LE R1S (3XX) is richer than the premium system in my brand new Tri. Alas. However, I had a standard with the “basic” audio until I swapped recently and that was just sad until a year of updates made it at least passable.

Had a R1T loaner with it once and was blown away vs my R1S with elevation. Sure it's a smaller interior but was sad to hand it back to them. They definitely got rid of it to save on costs.

Main reason why I haven’t upgraded to G2. We are changing my wife’s S to G2 within the next week or two, but hers came with the in house speakers already.

Meridian was better, no doubt. That's about the only thing my gen 1 had over my gen 2 tri

Meridian is better if you like to listen very, very loud with strong bass. Normal girly listening is pretty much equivalent. And, I hate to admit it, but my very loud music listening days are mostly over. And the Gen2 sound is pretty excellent in my book.

Your '24 has elevation. That was well after the switch. Even my '23 has elevation.

You can double check by looking at the door speaker grill and seeing if it says Meridian.

They switched somewhere between February and March 2023...my Feb 2023 build still has Meridian, but trucks made shortly after mine had the Elevation sound system. The speaker grilles have Meridian on them.

My G2R1T “premium” has gotten better over the last 6 months. I have tweaked the equalizer and don’t use dynamic sound (the thing that increases volume as the vehicle interior noise increases with speed). I also have not subscribed to native apps like Tidal or Apple Music to see those have better sound quality. It still falls short of the previous premium sound system I had in a Ram 1500 with a wired connection to phone.

I had the opposite experience with how good the meridian system was. It brought me back to my youth. Black Sabbath, Metallica, etc. I felt like I was at a live concert at times. Even a song like defying gravity from wicked was an experience with that system.
I hear what you are saying. Most music is fine.
If rivian offered a premium premium audio that was indeed comparable - I would buy it.

Have had both. Currently with Gen 2 R1T Quad and it sounds like the old Gen 1. Glad my hearing is that bad I guess.
