My red canyon R1T got sick this week

Campbell (named after the manufacturer of tomato soup) was charging at the RAN in The Dalles OR on our way to eastern Oregon. After unplugging I got back in and the car threw warnings. After a hard reset it never came back on.

I had all the snacks in the front trunk and equipment in the gear tunnel. Nothing would open that had a power button (trunk, gear tunnel, tail gate, tonneau) Luckily I had a large cooler that left the tonneau cover open about a third.

In less than an hour Rivian had me in a rented 2500 Chevy truck and we were back in the road. After buying more snacks and borrowing some equipment from our other buddies we had a successful trip. Then coming back into town tualatin SC barely got the powered buttons to work to retrieve items.

MAJOR props to rivian, phone support and service center were so helpful and top notch. I barely noticed any hiccups on my trip (except I didn’t have my best truck ever)

After SC diagnosed the truck it turns out something happened and my HV battery and needs replaced. They will get one in this next week for me

Take aways:

1. We all hear the bad stories when crap happens. Honestly, what I experienced was so awesome. Jordan in customer service was just great!!!! Tualatin and Portland SC people are top tier. Keep up the great work.

2. I probably could have got into my areas if I had my jump box in the truck (under back seat) and NOT in a button area (front trunk). A jump box will have more amps and that’s what SC used. As opposed to a regular jump (which didn’t work for us)

3. we reached into the gear tunnel to press the emergency buttons. They don’t work without sufficient power either.

All that vehicle drama and you went hunting for cows?????

All camo'ed and you guys shot a cow in an open field with a dirt road through it??????

I have absolutely no issues with hunting, but I would have a little more pride than have my picture taken with a cow I shot in an open field with a road through the middle of it. I can do the same thing in the meat section at my Whole Foods!!!!!!

Hell, Helen Keller could have done that.

Need a skid steer. We had a long horn meet it's maker at the end of our driveway about a year ago or so. They tried to corral it in the wheat fields but no such luck. The local butchers came and put it down. The owner was very apologetic... Nice guy actually.... They had apparently just gotten it .... His wife was really upset.

Out where I live it's usually cows that get loose. Every now and again someone loses their dog or cat.

Those long horns can cause of serious damage when they get feisty.

Wow, over critical much?

I just posted the first pic. That was a yak/long horn hybrid from 520 yards. It just happened to limp and die on the road that was below it.

We got 2 bison, 2 long horn hybrids and 2 hogs. I just love how my story was about rivian and you got critical about the hunt.

Your story *was* about Rivian, on the *Rivian* forums.... and then there was a picture of a dead animal. Not a dead animal you hit accidently with the Rivian or a bird that died when it flew into your Rivian windshield. It was an animal that was previously alive, but then died when you intentionally killed it.

For some, hunting is a completely legitimate hobby or sport. For others.... it's not. I guess the point here is it's cool to remember that when it comes to things like this that might polarize people.

The post stopped being about a Rivian when you posted pictures of your kills while "hunting." You shot two large basically domesticated animals in an open field. Stop trying to be a tough guy boasting about your "hunt" when a real hunter who has actually spent time in the back country hunting wild, migratory game would be too embarrassed to pose with a hunting ranch kill.

If you had not posted pictures of you trophy posing with your kill in super clean gear that looks like it came right off the rack at Cabela's you might have fooled some people. But, you actually come off like a suburban amateur by posting pictures of a cow you shot in a wide open field.

Helen Keller could have done what you are boasting about.

Since this is a Rivian forum, stick to why we are all here.

I am more than a little concerned about the seemingly minor comment that the emergency release buttons in.the tunnel don't work without power

The buttons are electrical so if there is no electricity available they will not work. There doesn’t appear to be a requirement to use mechanical emergency releases which would work without power.

Yep, I get that now, I guess I would have expected them to work without power which could be a problematic expectation. I have had my younger nephews crawling around the tunnel with the doors shut which is a bit scary in hindsight and yes I know all the documentation says not to do that.

It certainly seems like an oversight to not provide any way to open the gear tunnel doors manually from the inside without power to the vehicle (ie a dead 12V battery). It's not such a far fetched scenario to imagine the eventual need for such an escape mechanism even if it's for wrecked R1T's with dead batteries sitting in auction lots or junkyards.

As others have already mentioned, some of us would rather not see trophy photos of dead animals on a automobile forum. If this was a hunting forum, have at it as those members are there because they enjoy killing animals. You can not assume anyone outside a hunting forum enjoys seeing photos like that. Since this is not a hunting forum, at least please consider removing them? Thank you!
