Hit a nearby supercharger with the A2Z adapter and added 20% through the Tesla App then another 20% without.
- Tesla App with subscription: $0.36/kWh, 20 seconds delay before charging start. From 36% to 56%
- Plug & Charge: $0.52/kWh, almost instantaneous charging start. From 56% to 76%

Do you know much that supercharger costs without the monthly subscription? I am assuming it's roughly 10 cent savings per kilowatt? This would only make sense if you use a supercharger multiple times a month.

$0.52. Drive between Long island and Pocnos several times a month. It’s nice to have another option besides the ONE Electrify America I need to hit on the way.

Worth it if you are on a decent road trip or can't charge from home. It's a 25% savings and superchargers vary per location and sometimes even by the hour.

I agree, when the R2 gets here my Solar will not cover the usage, there is an SC around the corner I currently charge our Tesla at. For NACS it charges 53 cents 4AM to midnight and 28 cents midnight to 4AM

with a 25% discount I could get 21 cents a kWh break even is 185 kWh or roughly 465 miles at 2.5 miles per kWh. Way cheaper than my lowest home rate of 37 cents in winter and 38 cents in Summer so I may go with that monthly plan when the time comes.

Based on 1k miles a month and 2.5 miles per kWh (my guess on R2 efficiency), it is a big difference

With 12.99 plan monthly total would be $222.99 a month
Charging at home would be $370.00 a month so would save $140 a month.

I have free Supercharging on the Tesla so it saves me $370+ a month, worth it for me to charge that at the Superchargers, not sure if the $140 a month would be enough incentive. Probably will depend on how much excess solar was generated the year before the R2. ?

Frustrating that it has to be one or the other. I wish there was a way to get membership pricing without loosing the convenience of plug-and-charge. I wonder if this is on the to-do list.

I am willing to pay the monthly subscription, but I'm not willing to mess with an app when I don't have to.

Agreed, plug and charge started within seconds. Might be worth paying the full rate for the added convenience.

Some of the Tesla Superchargers on my route in May only has a 0.10c difference. The breakeven would be 130 kWh.

Not sure I'll hit that for a roadtrip, but the tesla charging stations outnumber EA and they have double or quadruple the number of chargers each. I'll gladly pay full price if I need to use it in a jiffy.

I am hoping that Tesla will allow us to subscribe and subscribe as needed. For example, we have only done 1 road trip from NorCal to Disneyland. I subscribed to EA as well as EVGo to get the cheaper kW rate. Once we got home I unsubscribed.

We don't do a lot road trips, so to subscribe to a monthly service doesn't give us any benefits and is an unnecessary expense, because we charge at home or at my work (free).

Since there are usually more Tesla stations where you will be the chance of them being "in service" and not having to wait for an EA is greater. That will probably the only time I would consider using a Tesla charger.
